A Relentless Pursuit for Love

Chapter 63

Chapter 63

On the drive home, Sage sat at the back of the car with her lips pressed tightly together. She did not say anything.

The atmosphere in the car was tense.

Hunter, who was behind the wheel was tense. He was trying his best to drive carefully so as not to cause Sage any discomfort. He did not wish to be caught in the crossfire.

Hunter had been working with Sage, and he knew Sage’s temperament all too well.

If she went to great lengths to argue with a person, it meant that she was not angry nor was she provoked by the argument. If, however, she was silent, like how she was now, it meant that she was fuming with rage and that one had to tread lightly around her.

Upon reaching Rosa Garden, Hunter got out of the car and opened the door for Sage. Getting down from the car, Sage said, “Get some rest. Come pick me up at eight in the moming tomorrow.”

“Yes, ma’am,” replied Hunter. Carefully studying Sage’s expression, he added worriedly, “Ma’am, I know that you’re still upset about what happened earlier. Would you like me to contact Mr. Jace and have him sell us the enamel plates at the price of his choosing?”

Furrowing her brows, Sage glanced at him coldly. “Do you have a lot of free time on your hands?”

Hunter shook his head frantically. “I’m sorry.” Luckily for Hunter, Sage did not mind his transgression.

As soon as Sage was out of sight, Hunter let out a sigh of relief and cursed himself silently. “You and your big mouth.”

After Hunter had left in his car, a black sedan pulled up on the road opposite Rosa Garden.

The car window rolled down revealing Jace’s calm and composed face.

“This is the Norah residence?” asked Jace in a soft voice.

“Yes, Sir,” Zayne replied as he went through the information on his tablet. “This land was formerly a well-known rose garden. Sawyer Norah… I mean the madam’s dad, who had purchased the land, had built his residence there. It is called Norah residence or Rosa Garden”

Jace responded with a soft, “Okay,” and looked toward Rosa Garden. Most of the rooms were brightly lit, and Jace wondered which room belonged to Sage.

He almost felt as if he would know her room on sight. He guessed that her room must be painted with warm colors, and it would be filled with the alluring scent of roses. Her room would be tidy and clean, and it would feel like home.

For some reason, Jace’s heart was suddenly filled with feelings of longing and regret.

Rolling up the window, Jace said, “Let’s go.”

Zayne was slightly taken aback. “Sir, aren’t you planning to give those plates to ma’am to cheer her up?”

Jace glanced at Zayne coldly. “Do you think I can cheer her up?”

Hesitating, Zayne replied honestly, “I don’t think so.”

Even though he knew her to be meek and friendly by nature, she was no longer that person. Something sinister lurked behind the friendly smiling face. Zayne found her somewhat frightening.

-Plus, after her confrontation with Jace, Zayne thought that it had been rather merciful of Sage to not have lashed out at him.

However, there is nothing worse than apathy. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

Perhaps Sage did not even care to fight with Jace anymore.

Jace was flustered by Zayne’s honest reply. Pressing his lips together, he hissed, “So, why are you even asking?”

Zayne replied, “Sir, from my experience, all ladies like to be coaxed. It’s not a matter of whether you’d do a good job in cheering her up, but if you don’t even care to cheer her up, it would then be a problem of attitude.”

Squinting, Jace growled, “So you think that I have an attitude problem?”

Feeling chills running down his spine, Zayne flashed a big smile and quickly corrected himself, “I dare not think so. It’s not your fault at all. It’s those enamel plates that upset Madam.”

Looking at the set of plates, Jace thought that anyone who took an interest in porcelain would definitely have jumped at the opportunity.

He did not expect Sage to want the porcelains too.

With that being said, the Norah family also had a jewelry business and she might have taken an interest in antiques too. Could it be that Sage had also figured out the value of these enamel porcelain plates?
