As Hazel stepped into the room, the sight she was greeted with was completely. unexpected. The

space, once defined by the practicality of a sofa and television, had been transformed into a makeshift

tent. A bedspread, artfully erected, stood. as the centerpiece, adorned with scattered toys that hinted at

an impromptu camping adventure or some imaginative game that had unfolded in her absence. Despite

the vibrant chaos of scattered toys, an unexpected tranquility enveloped the room. The trio; Ethan,

Daisy, and Liam, lay sound asleep, blissfully unaware of the world around them. Ethan, sprawled on

the sofa, served as an inadvertent camp counselor and bed, with Daisy sprawled across his chest and

Liam, the little adventurer, curled up on his legs, Liam was hugging Ethan’s legs in his sleep, for little

The scene was undeniably adorable, a revelation that caught Hazel off guard and prompted a genuine

burst of laughter. It was a side of Ethan Wild she hadn’t anticipated the man who could turn a room into

a playground and, more significantly, share moments of joy with children. These aren’t just any children

slumber, Ethan’s instincts kicked in. With an almost instinctive movement, he grabbed unto and

secured Daisy, to himself preventing her from tumbling to the floor. The silent tableau spoke volumes.

about the unexpected tenderness within Ethan, a scene that left Hazel both amused and

contemplative.

“Ethan,” Hazel called out softly, and his eyes snapped open almost immediately.

“Oh,” he muttered, blinking in the soft light filtering through the room.

“Pretty wild party you guys had,” Hazel remarked, a light tease in her tone. Ethan chuckled, glancing at

the still–sleeping kids.

“Come on, papa bear,” Hazel called lightly, attempting to pry Liam off Ethan’s legs. Liam grumbled and

clung tighter.

“Liam, wake up,” she coaxed gently.

“Mama,” Liam mumbled, still deeply immersed in his dreams.

“Yes, baby. Come to bed now,” she whispered, managing to lift him gently and carry him to his bed.

Ethan stood carefully with a still–sleeping Daisy, cradling her in his arms with evident affection. The

“What? Is there still something on my face?” Ethan asked in confusion. He sighed, running a hand

across his face.

“I thought i got it all out.”

“What is that?” Hazel asked, still laughing.

“Daisy got creative. She said I’d look good with a mustache, so she borrowed. Liam’s paint and drew

one for me. See?” Ethan showcased his makeshift

mustache, flexing it with pride. Hazel continued to laugh.

“I thought it would have cleaned off by now. I guess Jack’s painting kit is a little bit. more reliable than I

thought,” he said lightly.

“Here, let me help you,” Hazel said, grabbing some wipes. Walking over to Ethan, she began to wipe

off the artistic addition.

Ethan, up close, couldn’t help but focus on Hazel’s features. His senses were attuned to her her

“There, all done,” Hazel said with a smile.

“Thank you,” Ethan replied.

“It was nothing,” she said lightly.

“No, Hazel. Thank you,” he expressed, his gratitude sincere. “You know normally I would spend the

weekends at work. At the office or other things, but for the first time in a really long time, I spent the

weekend in a different way. For letting me visit and spend time with your kids, bringing a change to my

horrid routine, thank you.” Ethan said.

Hazel felt her throat tighten, nodding in acknowledgment. She managed a small smile.

“I realized I don’t have your contact. Getting the kids‘ snacks, I wanted to ask if they’re allergic to

anything, but I couldn’t reach you,” Ethan explained, pulling out his phone. Hazel entered her phone

number, and he dialed it immediately, her phone vibrating on the table.

Ethan’s eyes fell on Daisy’s sleeping form. “She’ll be stuck here a couple of months,” he stated.

Hazel sighed, taking a seat on Daisy’s bed.

“She really loves school, doesn’t she?” Ethan chuckled lightly as Daisy tossed, clutching her stuffed

tortoise tightly. Hazel gave a small smile, a silent acknowledgment of the truth in his observation.

“Well, so goodnight then, Ethan said.

“Yes, good night, Ethan. And thank you again for everything,” Hazel expressed her gratitude.

Ethan nodded firmly. “You don’t have to see me off,” Hazel nodded in

acknowledgment.

“He’s gone, baby,” Hazel replied gently, stroking her daughter’s hair. Daisy settled. back, sleeping

peacefully. The room was quiet, and the world seemed to have gone to sleep. Hazel sat there alone

with her thoughts.

Ethan stopped at the first floor of the hospital. There were things he needed to check. Unsatisfied with

his discovery on the first floor, he headed back to the elevator and went to the second. Finally, he found

it–a large, spacious area. He looked around, already making plans for what and how it would look.

Satisfied, he turned to leave, and as he stepped outside, rain greeted him. He ran to his car, settling in,

intending to call the hospital director when something caught his

attention.

It was a picture. Ethan smiled at the sight–Liam had taken a selfie with his phone. Ethan slid to the next

one; there were more! He laughed at the silly poses and styles the boy had taken. Settling on the last

one, Ethan stroked the picture slowly. There were a total of four pictures. They had really made his day.

“You’re lucky, Hazel. Very lucky.”

Starting the engine of his car, he drove off.

Ethan found himself smiling on his drive back home, recalling how the kids were the first time he met

them–they hadn’t liked him, but it was different now. Maybe it was because he had changed. Meeting

them had changed him; they liked him now, the same way he liked them.

Making the decision to put his plan in motion, he dialed Axel’s number. Axel answered on the third ring.

“Mr. Wild,” Axel acknowledged through the phone, but at that very moment, chaos erupted in the

background, drowning out their conversation.

“Axel!” Ethan urgently called out, but all he could hear was a cacophony of noise, accompanied by
