Chapter 13: She Woke Up
Her eyes resisted opening, but her mind warned her that she needed to wake up. Cara slowly looked around. Everything is very clear, the room is quiet, and the ceiling is white. She moved her head to try to see better, her mind struggling to put the disjointed pieces of memory back together. Going to school, raining, crossing the street, being hit by a car, covered in darkness… She finally came to the conclusion that she was in the hospital. It was good to have someone help her and take her to the hospital. Cara is afraid that she will be abandoned by passersby, regardless of life or death, without mercy. And even better luck, when she was able to see the sun again. As it turned out, her number was not exhausted, just as she wished before she closed her eyes. Gotta thank God.
Cara is calming herself mentally, suddenly the doctor in charge of Cara’s care has come to monitor her periodically, and the beautiful blonde girl is very happy to see her awake.
The doctor walked over and took Cara’s hand, who was still motionless on the bed.
“Hi, I’m Keva. As the doctor responsible for your treatment.”
“Doctor?” Cara asked awkwardly.
“Yes, this is a hospital.” “She had a traffic accident,” Keva said.
Cara formed important words in her mind, then asked slowly.
“Public or private hospital?”
“Private.” The doctor smiled and said.
“Oh my God!” Cara exclaims excitedly: “How is that possible?”
“What’s up?” Keva panicked, trying to calm her down while asking: “Calm down, say something slowly. Agitation is not good for recovery.”
“I don’t have enough money to pay the costs of a private hospital. The insurance card can only be used in public hospitals.”
Cara expressed worry, extremely scared about financial problems.
The female doctor heard that and smiled, a little reassured.
“Your head seems to be working fine, no problems with injury or memory problems.” Summary after observing Cara: “Can you tell me your name?”
“Cara.”
She said she felt uncertain about whether she should disclose personal information to strangers.
“How old are you?”
Keva continued slowly, the female doctor’s relaxed demeanor making her a little nervous. Fearing that there would be trouble, Cara decided to keep quiet, distracting by asking another question.
“How long have I been here?”
“Three days.”
Three days? It’s only been three days, hasn’t it? Her homework, her part-time job. What should I do? Crazy.
Oh man, she was lucky enough to escape death after that terrible collision. Onlookers were shocked to see her body flying high and far away. When she was brought in, her condition was very bad. The doctors had to try their best, as well as rely on the above grace to save her from death.
“How are you?”
Keva was confused by Cara’s thoughtful reaction. Fearing that the patient would think something negative, the girl quickly reassured:
“Don’t worry too much, you’re lucky to have survived, understand? Think of the good things ahead.”
Cara felt uncomfortable with her lying position and tried to move her body, seeing that Keva was forced to intervene.
“Don’t move too much. You were in a car accident, had a slight brain bleed that was fixed, but unfortunately broke your leg.”
Cara looked at the young doctor in amazement. That cannot be true. She did not want, a broken leg, how to walk, or how to work? Then where does the money pay for living expenses, where does the money pay the rent? Her life again fell into difficulty when wandering on the street. A series of difficult problems are about to happen, making Cara bewildered.
After a few minutes of confusion, Cara finally gathered some calm, questioning the truth of the matter.
“Is my broken leg serious? Will it return to normal soon or will it take a long time? Surely after the treatment, I can walk, right?”
Cara kept wanting the doctor to answer all her questions thoroughly, so she didn’t care if she repeated the same question or not.
“Does the doctor guarantee that I will completely recover, walk, move like before, and will not leave any sequelae? Will I return to my life as before?”
The girl was a bit flustered by the series of attacks. I don’t know how to answer, just to please the patient and not go too far from reality. It’s true that Cara made it difficult for Keva. However, after listening, she can confirm that one thing is not wrong, Cara’s brain is completely stable. A person with a problem will not talk very logically and think practical things like Cara just presented. Come to think of it, it was a really amazing thing. Normally a terrible collision like that, the brain part is very vulnerable. Internal bleeding in the brain leads to death, milder levels affect other organs in the body, and in some cases, memory loss. However, Cara’s case can be considered rare. It must be recognized that the number of Cara networks is large and happy. Listening to people talk about the incident, she flew into the air and then landed not gently. However, it is true that there are things that science cannot explain.
After a minute of carefully choosing her words, Keva slowly gave information based on a physician’s expertise, while expressing certainty in her assessment statement.
“Based on your condition, I recommend at least a year of treatment. The fracture is exposed, and for best recovery complete rest for a month. The pins will then be removed, and the final step will be to begin physical therapy. Physical therapy can take a year or more, depending on the individual’s ability.”
Keva was as honest as she could be and was reciprocated with a hint of disappointment, with a hint of utter anguish evident on her face, which was covered with small scratches caused by contact with the road surface.
As a form of encouragement as a doctor, Keva added.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
“You can rest assured. Our hospital is one of the leading hospitals in the country today, we can help you overcome this situation as soon as possible. Just do your best and don’t give up.”
Cara was silent, absorbing what the girl had just tried to cram into her brain. God, her leg is broken, and her vehicle is not working. There are nails attached to the legs to fix the broken position. Worse, she had to lie on bed rest for a month. Do nothing for a month, where do you get money to eat?
Cara could not sit still for a month, not to mention urgent matters, and her studies were also affected. Taking a lot of leave will risk cutting the scholarship. Cara has one more year to graduate, why does such a thing happen? God is too much for her. Cara considers herself to be a gentle person, never causing enmity or ill-treatment with anyone. She often does good deeds, helping people, but…? Where is the fair blue sky located?
