Chapter 29
As soon as they arrived home, Rose got out of the car. She turned to look at Beatrice. "I will go and get dressed for the party, stepmother." She told Beatrice and without waiting for a response from Beatrice she went upstairs to her bedroom to take a shower. She knew she had played a good game today, and she felt good. At the same time, she understood that there would be another game at the party this evening, and she would be prepared and not lose the opportunity to humiliate both Beatrice and Sophia. Standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom, Rose was busy examining her face in the mirror when she unconsciously touched her forehead where Alex had kissed him and she felt rage growing again.
"Alexander king! The same man I met at the airport. I should have asked him for compensation because he used me to lie to his girlfriend or whoever she is but I will let this slide because I borrowed his status to my advantage today as well." Rose mumbled under her breath. Even though she had used Alex, she hated the fact that he had used her and lied about them being in a relationship. She didn't want some obsessed woman to see her as a competition and start chasing after her life. This life she wanted to dedicate it to her revenge and doesn't want to be dragged into another messy drama.
"Alexander king, I hope our encounter ends at that jewelry shop and we never have anything to do with each other."
Meanwhile, after Rose heads to her room. Sophia had used the same opportunity to rush to her room as well before her mother could turn her attention to her. However, Beatrice, who had something to say to her daughter, always made her way to Sophia's room. She opened the door and entered her room and saw Sophia placing the jewelry box on the bedside table.
"Sophia, what is the meaning of what you did in the car? You have to return that jewelry box back to Rose now." Beatrice said, stretching her hand out for Sophia to hand over the jewelry box.
"Huh?" Sophia was vexed and frustrated when she heard her mother. She turned away and refused to let go of the box.
'They are in my hands. They are mine, and no one can take them away from me.' she thought greedily.
Beatrice closed her eyes and took in a deep breath to calm herself before she ran out of patience. "Why can't you be a little bit smart? Think about all these people at the shop today. What do you think they will say if they see you wearing the jewelry, especially. Haven't we humiliated ourselves enough?" She spoke. She had already lost enough face today and would love to prevent losing more face in the future all because of a stupid piece of jewelry that could completely ruin her reputation.
If she let Sophia wear that jewelry, it would mean that it was true that Beatrice had been mistreating Roseline, and it would ruin her reputation, which she'd worked so hard to maintain.
At the same time, people would think Sophia as a bossy and controlling sister to Rose. What's more, they definitely didn't want Alexander king to think badly of them.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Alexander king the only son and heir of one of the richest and powerful tycoons in the world. Presidents of various countries were regular visitors at the Kings'. It was said that a small move of the Kings' could easily alter the path of the world economy. The Grays' might be one of the richest in California, but compared to the Kings', they were nothing worth mentioning at all.
Beatrice's last question made Sophia think. Still, she struggled. It was never easy for her to give in. "But, we can't just let Rose have everything!"
Beatrice understood what Sophia meant and completely agreed with her daughter She took a step closer to Sophia and patted her on her shoulder in order to comfort her "There's no hurry. Think long-term, my dear. Alexander king is only playing games with her. Once he dump her,
gets tired of her, he will ne
and that will only just put her to shame. Then, it's our chance, and you will get all the good things you deserve."
"Alright. I will let her borrow it for now. Just temporarily." Sophia complied and handed the box to Beatrice unwillingly. To Sophia, the jewelry belonged only to herself.
"That's my good girl." Beatrice felt relieved, but only for a short while, as she remembered the incident today. Why the hell were they at the jewelry shop today? She looked at Sophia and asked her about it.
A few minutes later, Sophia had informed her how everything happened from the moment she came into Rose room and how they got to the jewelry shop.
Beatrice grew sullen and concerned after all the explanation from Sophia.
'It sounds like the cheeky thing has grown smart. What's she plotting? Why do I feel like that tiny brat's sudden arrival seems like she's up to something?' Beatrice thought, her suspicions growing as she chewed on her nails. Sophia didn't think much of it and assured her mother, "Mom, what are you worrying about? She's under your control. It's all good."
Rose's mother and grandparents
passed away when she was little, so
she didn't really have any other family members or relatives, nor money or power. That was why it was even easy for William to send her out of the country because there was no one to stop him. Everything Rose did, they had been watching. There was no way she could escape from their control.
Today was an exception-an annoying one at that.
Beatrice thought about what her daughter said. True. She is just a naïve little girl and felt like it was similar to what Mary had to tell her. There's no need to worry.
"You're right, there is no way that tiny thing can escape our grasp. Alright, let's get you dressed up for the party Beatrice abandoned her worries and decided to focus on dressing her daughter up for
party. Her daughter would 39.19
