Chapter 35
Rose listened but seemed to be deep in thoughts.
It was true that the Grays were reputable and rich, but compared to them, the Grays were far lower down the ladder.
David was the person to extend his hand gentlemanly "My pretty lady, may I introduce myself..."
The whole room was surprised. Really? Are they interested in someone like Sophia Gray? She's nobody compared to them.
The women in the room were flaming with jealousy as well as resentment.
Sophia was overwhelmed. She gazed at David as she held out her hand. "I know you. You are David Parker?" 'Am I dreaming? Is David Parker really speaking to me? Perhaps they have finally noticed my beauty! All of them. My god. This is amazing! The money on this dress is very well spent! Though it was a lot of money, it was surely worth it.' Sophia screamed in excitement in her head.
She had completely forgotten about the incident at the jewelry shop earlier as she proudly recovered.
David placed a kiss on Sophia's hand and gave her a bright smile "Ah, you know my name. I'm flattered."
The crowd was bombarding Sophia with bitter looks.
Who does she think she is? How does she deserve David's attention? Is it because of that stupid dress she's wearing?
Despite the piercing glares Sophia was receiving she was more elated and excited that her face was burning.
Each gentleman introduced themselves, and soon they started chatting and joking together with Sophia. Their honey-sweet words delighted her tremendously while the attention from the jealous spectators satisfied her egoistic need immensely.
'Hehe! Now that I've won these men's attention, I must be the most desirable woman in Los Angeles, if not the entire California as well.'
Meanwhile, seeing how things were unfolding, she moved away, wittingly, and watched in silence.
'A group of dumb, dull and smug idiots. What a great social gathering.'
She saw through their intentions from the start. Though she didn't see the point of it, she rather enjoyed staying away from it and watching.
Alex was still seated in his seat as he watched what was happening in front of him. He indifferently and glanced at Rose occasionally.
She is acting more mature than her age, looking so calm. Weird. However, she is a weirdo anyway.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Rose sensed a stare on her and she could guess where it was coming from so she pretended she didn't notice the attention and lowered her head to stare at the floor.
Though she currently wasn't one of those strikingly good-looking girls, unlike the way she looked earlier at the jewelry shop. However, Alex still noticed her amazingly pale skin under the lights and couldn't keep his eyes off her.
As his gaze grew more and more intense, Rose started to feel uneasy and finally raised her head up, turning her head to his direction and glared at him as if to say 'Don't you look at me like that, or I shall pluck your eyeballs.'
When Alex saw her glare, he simply responded by continuing staring at Rose, and unexpectedly, Rose found her cheeks burning, breathless with a racing heart.
Just then a man dressed in expensive clothes walked up to where Alex was sitting.
"Mr. King, I apologize for coming late to come and welcome you. I was really handling some business and was just informed that you've arrived." The man suddenly said, he was none other than Mr. Will, the head and host of today's social gathering.
He wasn't in the hall where the party was taking place because he was busy handling some things like he had told Alex just now. If not for the fact that his wife had sent someone to inform him about Alex's presence. That was why he came rushing to the hall to personally
greet Alex.
"It's okay, Mr. Will." Alex waved his hand at him.
"Ah, I'm grateful that Mr. King has graced your presence at my party. Please let me take you over there, there is a special table I've reserved for Mr. King's arrival." Mr. Will smiled seeing that Alex doesn't look angry. The place he had arranged Alex's special table was none other than where Rose was standing.
Alex didn't say anything and just stood up from his seat. Normally, he wouldn't have stood since the place he was sitting was less crowded but he did because he wanted to get a better view of Rose and see how she was going to handle the situation.
Mr. Will smiled again when Alex stood up and led the way to where the special table he had told Alex was. Honestly, he didn't know that Alex would attend the party, since he was rumored as a man that hates crowded places. But Alex being here was a great pleasure to him and he was really happy about it.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the
scene, Beatrice was extremely

pleased and proud to see her
daughter chatting with David and his group of friends. Then she looked at where Rose was and smirked. My daughter is way better than you. You are merely a contrasting
background set for my own
daughter to stand out even more.'
Sophia was enjoying the company and the compliments from the ladies' idols, feeling like the queen of the party. And at that same moment, there was another uproar from the crowds and it made her look in the direction and there she saw Alex, Derek and Mr. Will walking towards their direction. The entire crowds were marveled by Alex's emperor-like aura that emitted from his body as he followed behind Mr. Will, most especially the women.
"Oh my gosh, who would have thought that I would get to see Alexander king today."
"Dear God, he is so handsome!"
"What did you mean handsome? Handsome, can't explain what that face is!"
Just like everyone that was captivated and mesmerized by Alex's deadly handsome look, Sophia was no different. There she saw the man she wanted to have all to herself walking in her direction and she quickly made up her mind to leave a good impression on Alex
tonight.
