Falling For The Contract Bride Chapter 85
Chapter 85
Chapter 85 The Man in The Video Is Me!
The group of people seemed to be more organized.
They were not a mob and neither did they have anything against Mu Zhi. Although Mu Zhi did not know what had happened but from what they were saying, she could more or less guess.
It was probably another scandalous exposé regarding her life.
Despite coming to this conclusion, Mu Zhi felt that something was still off.
According to Lu Junnian’s diagnosis, Xia Shaner had genetically inherited schizophrenia. If everything that had happened previously was caused by her, Xia Shaner should be receiving treatment at a psychiatric asylum.
While receiving treatment, patients were not allowed the use of internet. Even phones had been banned. Besides, the nurses were careful in monitoring them… Therefore it couldn’t be Xia Shaner.
So if it wasn’t Xia Shaner, who could it be? Who was dead set on making her life miserable?
Mu Zhi saw an opportunity to escape when the people were busy looking for the administrator. She gritted her teeth and walked in with her head down. But before she could even take a few steps, she was stopped.
It was a woman around forty years of age, but she looked like she had taken great care of herself. She had the air of a rich and powerful lady of the house. She reached out with a jade bracelet clad hand and stopped Mu Zhi, “You can’t leave. You have to wait here with us until the dean arrives and gives us an explanation.”
“I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you mean.”
Mu Zhi hesitated and looked at her.
The woman sneered at her, “How could I allow my husband to continue seeing a doctor with such an improper personal life? What then if you decide to seduce my husband?”
Mu Zhi was so angry that she couldn’t speak. All she managed to let out was, “Please watch what you say.”
“Ah.”
The woman’s sniggered at her disdainfully, “Why should I watch what I say when you don’t watch what you do?”
“What did I do?”
Mu Zhi was confused.
Thankfully, a nurse rushed over and comforted her, “Dr. Mu, don’t argue with the patients here. Take a look at your phone.”
Mu Zhi’s phone was in her bag, still dead. How would she be able to find out what had happened?
She looked at the nurse impatiently, “What in the world is going on?”
The nurse caught on to how Mu Zhi was feeling and carefully gave her his phone. She watched Mu Zhi cautiously and weakly raised her eyes to Mu Zhi’s.
“Dr. Mu, this doesn’t seem like a ruse. It looks like… It might be real.”
What might be real…
Mu Zhi kept quiet and watched the video that the nurse played for her. It was a surveillance video.
It captured the happenings of that drunken night so many years ago, when she fell into Xu Changshu’s scheme.
Mu Zhi watched herself walk into the hotel room, but before she could watch any further, the family members of her patients had gotten hold of the dean and were approaching her. They all had an air of self-righteousness about them.
“Sir, we have enough evidence to get rid of her. She seduces other men and sleeps around!”
“How can we leave our lives in the hands of such a doctor?”
Mu Zhi found them ridiculous. How did her personal life have any effect on her skills as a professional? How did they manage to speak with such conviction?
Mu Zhi felt the start of a headache. She did not know how she was going to explain her way out of this.
Furthermore, there were so many people gathered there. Some weren’t even her patients.
The dean was quite elderly. Mu Zhi felt embarrassed to have him suffer being surrounded by so many people.
However… She was actually the person in the video.
And she couldn’t exactly reveal that she had been tricked by someone else.
With the onslaught of scandals being revealed one after another, even if she were to tell the truth now, no one would believe her.
When Mu Zhi was at a loss as to what to do, someone broke through the throng of people.
Lu Junnian calmly pushed aside the mass of people surround Mu Zhi and walked to her side. He stretched his hand out and gestured for everyone to calm down.
He collectedly looked at everyone before saying, “Don’t worry. I will give you all an explanation.”
“I am Lu Junnian.”
With this one sentence, everyone settled down. The rumor that was published a few days ago had linked Lu Junnian and Lu Jinye to Mu Zhi. Everyone was now familiar with his name.
But quickly after that, someone else said, “So what if you’re Lu Junnian? You want to protect your first love but how can you protect someone with such a messy personal life?”
“The man in the video is me.”
Lu Junnian’s voice was not loud but it travelled. His voice slowly spread and reached everyone there.
Everyone stared at Lu Junnian in shock.
“At the time of the video, Mu Zhi and I were still in love. I waited for her in the room and left the door open for her. It was only natural that she went it. The hotel is the one at wrong. They saved the video and uploaded it onto the internet. Mu Zhi is the victim here.”
This group of people was no unreasonable mob. They calmed down after hearing Lu Junnian’s explanation and became somewhat rational. After whispering among themselves, they nodded.
The dean hurriedly had Mu Zhi leave for the consultation rooms. The hospital would take care of things from there on.
Mu Zhi nodded to the dean, bowed in apology and left.
Lu Junnian followed Mu Zhi closely from behind, escorting her. They passed the throngs of people and into the corridor. As they walked, she could feel the judgmental gaze of doctors and nurses upon her. Mu Zhi could see them looking at her but pretended otherwise.
Furthermore, she knew that Lu Junnian was following her.
Following her. Watching over her.
She had made up her mind a long time ago… To forget this incident.
Even when she had confronted Xu Changshu, Mu Zhi did not bring up this incident. She had hoped that… Both her and Lu Junnian could have a peaceful separation without any regrets.
Because they could not stay together any longer.
Not because he did not turn up but because she had been tricked into losing her innocence.
She had no intention of telling Lu Junnian about what had happened. In fact, she had wanted to take this to the grave. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
But… Today, it had been uncovered.
It had forced Mu Zhi’s hand. She couldn’t not say it now. Now their love would be tainted with regret.
Mu Zhi walked quickly to a consultation room and sat down. She poured herself a glass of water and turned to look at Lu Junnian.
Lu Junnian stayed standing. He looked down at her condescendingly. His face void of emotion.
