Fortune 35
Tanya felt heartbroken and upset when Madison locked the door on her. When William and Harvey came back home, she softly grumbled to the two of them.
Harvey comforted Tanya with a few words before making his way to the bedroom
William was on the same page with Tanya. Madison didn’t get an upper–class upbringing, so she didn’t quite measure up to Rebecca in manners. It made sense for her to learn from Rebecca as an example.
The following morning, the Locke family gathered at the dining table for breakfast.
As usual, Ethan and Jason weren’t home, whereas Rebecca went back to set to film. So, only four of the Lockes sat together for breakfast.
Tanya signaled William to bring up the topic, and the latter cleared his throat. He was just about to speak when the maids came in to report that Josephine and Jordan had shown
- up.
William was speechless.
The Salle family visited the Locke residence quite often lately.
Thinking back to the call with Vincent yesterday, Tanya was convinced Josephine and Jordan were here to apologize. She tugged on William’s sleeves and whispered about what went down yesterday.
Holding his forehead, William sighed and turned to Madison before shaking his head disapprovingly. After all, Madison wasn’t raised by his side, so she just couldn’t match Rebecca’s grace and manners.
William wished all his daughters were proper heiresses. He couldn’t stand Madison’s lack of etiquette as she kept rubbing people the wrong way
Madison had been observing William’s expression, so she knew what was on his mind. But she just kept quiet about it.
William and Tanya walked over to welcome Josephine and Jordan.
Tanya noticed Jordan’s sour expression and figured he must have been reprimanded at home. It made her feel a little better. After all, someone who was being rude to elders deserved to be taught a lesson.
“What brings you here so early in the morning?” Tanya walked up and hooked her arm around Josephine’s. “The kids are still learning. As their parents, we won’t take it to heart. You didn’t have to come and apologize first thing in the morning. Besides, Maddie is at fault, too.” Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
With great poise, Tanya stated that Madison and Jordan were equally at fault, so no one should point fingers. William nodded along in agreement nearby.
Little did Tanya know, Josephine’s pleasant expression would darken the moment she heard that she quickly pulled her hand away, her tone turning unfriendly. “That’s not how it is, Tanya.”
William and Tanya were both dumbstruck.
What was that supposed to mean? Was Josephine blaming everything on Madison? That seemed inevitable. Without the proper upbringing of an upper–class tamily, she was an
easy target
“Are you coming over to apologize or not, Maddie?
“Who asked Maddie to apologize? Josephine immediately cut off Tanya. Her expression shifted instantly as she faced Madison. “I came to see Maddie.”
Josephine approached and took Madison’s hand. She gently patted it and said, “You have no idea, but I just clicked with Maddie the moment I saw her, William, Tanya.
“Just look at Maddie. She’s gorgeous, thoughtful, and well–mannered. You won’t find another woman like her anywhere.”
William was at a loss for words. He could tell Josephine wasn’t being sarcastic, and she meant the compliment
Tanya was dumbounded as well
Josephine gently patted Madison’s hand and told William and Tanya, “After thinking it through, I figured that since you already have Rebecca as your daughter, having another one wouldn’t make much difference to you.
“How about I make Maddie my goddaughter? I don’t have a daughter, and my family would surely treat her well”
With a gentle smile, Josephine added, “Maddie’s so lovely. She deserves the nicest clothes and the finest jewelry. And she is so smart and considerate. If anyone gives her trouble, the alles will be the first to stand up for her.
“Honestly, with a daughter this amazing, who wouldn’t treat her like a treasure?
