CHAPTER LXXXIX

She swallowed, hoping her courage wasn’t thinning away. “Maybe I want to get punished,”
Chase groaned, his cock hard from her little game of seduction and his grip on her hair loosened. “Where did you learn all that from?”
She shrugged, using the opportunity to stand up and walk away from there.
He growled in displeasure at her lack of answer to his question. Chase turned to her, grabbing her arm. “I asked you a question. Where did you learn all that from?”
Sophia smiled at him. “Relax, I was only pulling your legs,” She giggled. “I wanted to get a reaction from you,”
Chase’s brows furrowed. “And? Did you get one?”
“I really don’t know,” She shook her head. “I can’t read you, so I don’t know if I actually got the reaction I wanted. I’m not an expert in all these,”
Chase smiled at her, pulling her closer so he could wrap his arms around her small waist. “You’re still innocent, huh?”
Sophia fake – glared at him with a small pout. “Don’t call me that,”
His left brow lifted. “Why?”
“I don’t like it,” She said.
“Well then,” He let go of her waist. “Let’s see how this goes,”
Sophia made her way to turn and walk away, but he gripped her arm again, bringing her to his chest.
“Cha-,”
She was cut off when he gripped her chin with his thumb and forefinger before angling her face better so she could look at him.
“I didn’t get to kiss my wife,”
Nervous laughter eluded her lips, and she blushed profusely as he called her his wife. A warm feeling settled in her at the reality that she was actually his wife. Chase Romano’s wife.
Chase leaned in to kiss her, but she was quick to cover her lips with one of her palms. She then removed her hand and smiled. “Let’s wait,”
“You’ve been a tease,” He said in displeasure at her refusal. “Won’t you just let me kiss you, at least?”
She shook her head. “Nope,”

She was tired. It wasn’t a long flight from Italy to France, but it still made her tired.
Sophia leaned her back on the car seat, her eyes not leaving the wedding band on her finger. She could feel Chase’s eyes on her, as if waiting for her to say something while she was just seated there, trying to wrap her mind around the fact that she had gotten married to the man who was marrying another woman in two weeks’ time.
She glanced at his hand and saw the platinum wedding band, not the one that belonged to Saige, but the one she had slipped into his fingers while uttering the words, ‘I do’. They were almost identical. The only difference was that the ones they were both wearing had their initials engraved on the inside. He probably got himself the same kind of ring because he didn’t want anyone to know about them. Obviously.
She suddenly felt like a dirty little secret.
“Roll up the partition,” Chase ordered the driver.
The partition was smoothly rolled up, giving Sophia and Chase the privacy they needed.
His voice came out hard. “Sophia, say it,”
She furrowed her eyebrows, shaking her head. “What?”
“Whatever you are thinking, spit it out,” The sharp edge to his tone told her that he wasn’t in a good mood again.
“Nothing,” She said, faking a smile at him. “I’m not thinking about anything,”
“I’m not fucking playing around,” He gripped her arm and whirled her around to face him. “There’s something going on in that pretty little head of yours’. Whatever it is, say it,”
“Saige-,” She breathed out. “You’re getting married to her soon,” She locked eyes with him. “Publicly,”
“Is this what it’s all about?” He let go off her arm. “We talked about this already,”
“We talked about nothing!” She shrieked out. “We didn’t talk about anything. You only told me you have to get married to her,”
“You didn’t have a problem with all this back when we were on the jet,” He sighed. “You were pulling my legs about it,”
“Well, I’ve come to think about it now,” She said. “It’s been bugging my mind ever since we left the jet. I can’t watch my husband getting married to another woman,”Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
“You will have to,” His words came out harsher than he intended to, earning a flinch from her. “You will sit in the audience with the rest of the guests on that day. You won’t speak to anyone. You won’t tell anyone that you and I are secretly married. Do you get that?”
A tear cascaded down her cheeks and she swallowed the lump at the back of her throat.

Sophia walked into the en-suite as Chase walked in behind her, none of them saying a word. The tension between them from the car ride was still heavy.
“Sophia,”
Sophia stopped but didn’t turn to face him. She was still upset about what he said to her back in the car.
The hairs at the back of her neck stood up as she felt his presence behind her, his looming height towering above her small figure.
She heard him take a deep breath before asking. “Won’t you speak to me?”
She didn’t say anything.
“Don’t you like the place?” He asked. “If you don’t, I can arrange for another place for us,”
“There’s no need for that,” She croaked out, her heart tightening in pain as she remembered his words. “I-,” She swallowed the lump at the back of her throat. “I like the place,”
Of course, anyone would. It was Bora Bora after all, and it was such an expensive honeymoon destination, but she didn’t care. Someone who hadn’t met Chase Romano would think he was a romantic man.
“You don’t seem happy about it,” He replied, fisting his hands at his sides. “Are you upset?”
Really? Was that all he could ask? She resisted the urge to yell at him.
Sophia turned to him and shook her head. “I’m not upset,” She lied. “I’m just tired,”
Chase sighed and held her small hands in his. “Gattina,” when she didn’t say anything or try to pull her hands from him, he held her chin and jerked it up softly. “Look at me,”
{“Kitten”}
Sophia looked up at him. “I’m tired,”
He ignored her words and gripped her chin tightly. “You’re my wife and I fucking expect you to have my back now,”
She sucked in a deep breath, feeling her tiny resolve breaking. She understood what he meant. She was meant to be his other half and support his decision. She squeezed her eyes shut and opened them, looking into his eyes. She meekly nodded, telling him she would try her best.
He exhaled loudly through his nose before dropping a soft kiss on her lips. It was a small peck, nothing else. He let go of her hands and reluctantly took a step back, cupping her cheeks. “Do you understand what I mean?”
She leaned into his touch before whispering. “Yes,”
