Chapter 51
Sofia Andrew
Indeed, the most foolish person in life is the one who is in love. My instinct already told me that something was wrong, but one decides to take a risk and ends up worse than it already was.
At least before, he was not part of my life, and I was already used to being ignored. I only dreamed what his kisses would be like and what it would be like if we were happy, but that dream unexpectedly came true.
He gave me a taste, only to end up looking like the biggest fool in this story, because even if what he says is true and he loves me, he will still never trust me. Elisa will always have more credibility than me.
My phone kept ringing. I looked at the screen, and I was not surprised to see the name there. If it's not my aunt, it's my dad, Amelia, or Angel. They just can't understand that I want to be alone. And that man can't understand that I don't want to see him. Let him be with that witch, Elisa. "How dare he humiliate me like that? In front of our families, that is?"
After spending the entire night crying like an idiot on the rooftop of Let-Tech because it was the only place where they weren't going to look for me, I came up with two decisions. One of them is that it will be the last time that I will give Angel the pleasure of making me cry, and the other is that both he and his family, Elisa, and everyone else will now have reason to speak badly of me.
I went out to my office, took a bath, and got myself ready for the day. I made myself more beautiful than ever and called my dad.
"For God's sake, Sofia! I spent the night worrying about you! A call would have been nice." Dad reprimanded me, but I heard a hint of relief.
"I needed to think, Dad, and I had to do that alone because I didn't want to hear 'I told you so'."
"I would never do that, but I want it to be clear to you that no one humiliates my daughter."
"I know, Dad. Don't worry, I'll take care of that family, but I want to ask you for a favor."
"Just say it, princess."
"I don't want that family to continue enjoying privileges at our expense. After all, we are already planning a divorce, so it is time for Angel to have the burden of fulfilling the whims of his family."
"I was thinking about that, but the contract says..." Dad hesitated, but I cut him off.
"The contract is over; Dad. Angel already has everything he wanted from this marriage, and he no longer needs us."
"Well, on my part, the privileges of the Leffman are over."
"Thanks, Dad."
"I will do whatever you want, my child, but I don't want you to shed a single tear for a man, much less for one who doesn't know how to appreciate the jewel he has." "Unfortunately, not everyone is used to diamonds, dad. Some people prefer copper."
"That's my daughter," Dad said proudly.
"I love you, and I must hang up because I have matters to resolve."
I hung up and mentally noted my plans. Dad will take care of Angel's dad, and now I'm in charge of my dear ex-mother-in-law. I then called the club and contacted Don Hewitt, the owner. "Mrs. Leffman, what a pleasure to get a call from you."
"Good morning, Mr. Hewitt, but it's Andrew; Mrs. Leffman is Angel's mother. Anyway, I'm calling because I want to revoke all my membership extensions." I requested, not beating around the bush. ""All of them?"
"Yes, Mr. Hewitt, all of them. Starting today, no one will enter under my name, only me."
"Okay, then we will request a personal one for your mother-in-law with an extension to her family members."
"No, I am not requesting membership, Mr. Hewitt, but rather revoking all of my extensions. Now, if the Leffman want one, they will have to request it with all the requirements requested by the club, and that also includes the events. What I want to say is that from now on, the Leffman family has nothing to do with the Andrew family."
"Okay, miss. From now on, the membership of the Leffman family under your name is revoked."
"Thank you very much. Have a good day." I hung up with a smile on my face.
Let's see how you solve that, dear mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Now, for the next person to experience my wrath, I called the bank and asked them to connect me with the manager.
"Mrs. Sofia, how nice of you to call me. I was about to send you the papers to settle the debt of Ms. Patricia."
"That's why I'm calling you. I would like to cease the payment. I must first resolve a complicated issue before continuing with the process."
"But Mrs. Leffman, the bank is already processing the debt. All that's left is your signature."
"And until you have it, I want you to stop the process for now. Don't worry, you will hear from me this afternoon to see if we process the payment or not. Have a good day."
Oh, Patricia, let's see what excuses you have.
My secretary entered my office and was surprised to see me.
"Good morning, Sandra. How are you?
"Good morning, ma'am. I didn't know you were coming so early."
"I had to resolve some business matters that needed my immediate attention. Can you order breakfast, please? And book me a flight to Germany this evening." ""Of course, ma'am. Is there anything else?"
"Contact Amelia, please, and tell her that I'm here and that if she's free, I want her to come here. Also, tell Isaac to come up with the papers for the German contract."
She left and left me alone with my thoughts while I finished putting on my makeup. No matter what you're going through, you should always look beautiful.
My phone kept receiving calls from Angel, and I ignored every single one of them. The least I want now is to see or hear him. A few hours after work, Ignacio comes up with the documents. We reviewed them so that I wouldn't miss a single detail.
"The Germans are going to be happy anyway; they already have the project. Well, you know..."
"Yes, Isaac, they just want to see how it is used and test the application on his system. I am the one who did this, don't you forget." I reminded him with a roll of my eyes.
"True," he says, looking at me strangely. "Is everything okay?"
"Why do you ask?" I calmly asked while flipping through the papers.
"It's just that I notice something different about you. It's almost like seeing a stranger, and Amelia called me because she was worried about you."
"I'm fine, Isaac. I just had a reality check yesterday. Nothing serious, but today is another day and we have to resolve it."
"Good morning," Amelia greeted me when she entered the office. "Good morning, love. I didn't know you were coming." Amelia greeted her boyfriend. "Work calls. Anyway, this is good; we can have lunch together," Isaac told Amelia.
"Another time, maybe. Amelia and I have some work to do."
"The boss has the say. I'll leave you to it, then." Isaac is left alone in what we have to do.
"Sofia, I was too worried when your aunt called me! At least you could have sent me a message telling me you're fine and that I leave you alone."
"I thought you would understand when I didn't answer after the fifth call, not the tenth."
"No, I was too worried, but I guess not more than Angel," she said, and it surprised me. "But then I remembered who you are, and I knew that you were going to be fine. Now do you want to tell me about it? Your aunt only told me that she saw Angel with the snake Elisa at the club, but she didn't give me details."
"We are going to talk about this only once, and I don't want to talk about it again. Yesterday, when I left here, I went to look for Angel to tell him everything we had discovered. When I arrived at the company, it turned out that he had gone out with Elisa, and before I reacted, I told myself that there had to be some explanation, but my dad called me so that we could go to dinner at the clubhouse. When I arrived there, he was with his girlfriend and their families."
Amelia was stunned for a few seconds. "Wow, and what explanation did he give you?"
"That woman had the guts to rub it in my face. She said that she will always be his love and that he will always believe her, even if she does what she does." Just remembering it makes me angry!
"Sofia, you know that Elisa is going to do anything to make you uncomfortable and poison your mind, but please tell me that at least you listened to Angel."
"That's the second part of the story. When I came out of the bathroom, I found him and that woman kissing in front of everyone, and he didn't even try to refuse her. He simply smiled at her, and when he realized I was there, he told me to wait at the apartment where he would explain. Of course, Elisa took advantage of that moment to make me understand that she was always going to be the woman he was going to believe. That vile woman told him that we bought Patricia so that she would lie to Angel about all the things she had told us."
"How the hell did she find out that we made some deal with Patricia?"
"I don't know. You know what makes me angry? Angel just looked at me and asked why I did it. I told him that those were not the reasons why I paid her debt, but he simply didn't believe me; he believed her. He also defended her. He said we had to talk, and I agreed, but he had to tell me that he couldn't offend her family, but he offended mine because they saw it all."
Amelia shook her head while massaging her head. "I don't know what to tell you about that."
"Nothing. You don't have to tell me anything. He preferred to believe Elisa than me. Well, let him stay with his beloved Elisa. I'm already fed up, but from now on, everyone is going to know who I am."
"It's still good to hear both versions, Sofia. Be careful; I'm not telling you to forgive Angel or anything like that because he doesn't deserve it, and it's about time for you to make him suffer, but it's good that he realizes that Elisa is not who she says she is. You have proof that she had an abortion, that her pregnancy time does not match what she told him, and on top of that, you have proof that she is not a saint. You have the power to expose her."
"And I will do it, but in my way, because at this moment, what matters the least to me is Angel. Rather, I asked for you because I wanted to cancel the payment. I want to see how her dear friend found out about it, and she, like my mother-in-law, is going to know why they shouldn't have ever messed with me."
"Come on, Sofia. I'm sure she's not that stupid. She knew what was at stake. She gave you the evidence, so why tell Elisa?"
"That's what we're going to find out. She can't talk to Angel now because he will think that she was paid. We have to find a way for him to find out from another source, but at this moment, I am busy with other company matters that are much more important than him and Elisa." We left for Patricia's store, and we entered her office without knocking, and I swear I'm going to kill her.
"Partner, you could have at least let me know that you were coming. Is this always going to be like this?" Patricia asked in sarcasm.
"A partner that you are about to lose before we can even start." I sat down, and she looked at us in confusion. "Let's see, Patricia, the agreement was that you would give me information with proof and you would tell Angel what you knew, then I would pay your debt and help you expand your brand, but where was it that you would tell Elisa about the agreement?"
She looks at us in shock. "You have fifteen minutes to explain to me how Elisa found out about our agreement and think carefully about what you are going to say. Make it credible, because the bank is waiting for my approval or your seizure."
"I swear, I don't know what you're talking about! I haven't said anything to her, and I've complied with our agreement! I gave you the evidence, and I told you what I would tell Angel about everything!"
"Uh-huh. Only the three of us knew about the agreement because your lawyer and the manager believed that it was just any company. So how did Elisa find out that Sofia would pay your debt?" Amelia pressed her.
"I really don't know! I'm not stupid to lose what I have for Elisa."
"The clock is ticking. Be more convincing."
"Sofia, I don't know!" She almost screamed, then gasped, as if remembering something. "Robert."
""Who is Robert?"
"Her fiancé," says Amelia, "is an ambitious idiot who has fun with any hooker in nightclubs."
"What does he have to do with this?"
"He saw the contract yesterday after we signed it. I told him the rest because he didn't want to believe that you were my partner, and he mentioned something about taking advantage of Elisa. This morning, I saw him carrying a good amount of money, but he didn't tell me where he got it from."
"Then thank your fiancé for your ruin and his."
"Sofia, I complied," Patricia said in desperation.
"You told your boyfriend about the agreement, and he ruined everything. You know what the consequences were; I warned you. Now thank your boyfriend's ambition for your misfortunes."
I didn't wait for her to answer and left her store with Amelia in tow. "I don't think she was stupid enough to tell him, although I understand if she did," Amelia commented.
""How?"
"The idiot is not only ambitious and unfaithful, but he is a first-class jerk. He likes to hit women, and I can only guess that she is his punching bag as well."
I remember noticing the excess makeup that she had, but still, her eyes looked swollen.
""Everyone gets what they deserve," I stated.
"What are you going to do now?"
"What does that idiot like to do? If he is as ambitious as you say, he must have gotten a good amount from Elisa for the information. Let's see if he has enough to get out of prison for extortion and abuse of women. I don't think she's the only one he hits." Amelia nodded her head. "I'll get to that; what about her debt?"
"Let's first check about her boyfriend. Let her suffer for a while and see what it's like to lose everything. If he was the one who did it, carry on; otherwise, ruin them."
"Wow, you really are in a terrible mood."
"I already put everything in its place with Angel's parents, his sister, and the little pigeon. Now Elisa and Angel are the only ones left." "What are you up to?"
"Right now, I'm organizing my suitcase because I have to go to Germany; then I will travel to France, but I'll give that couple a dose."
I went directly to Andrew and Leffman to give some details to Diether for when he comes alone to make the presentation. "When will you return?" Diether asked me.
"Before the meeting, advance everything to present your designs."
"And the one you and Angel made?"
"No, not that one," I denied, because I was too upset to give him that gift. "It's not ready yet, and I don't want it for the presentation." That's when Angel entered without knocking. "Shall we stay like this?" I continued with Diether and ignored Angel.
Diether looked uncertain at first, but thankfully got the picture. "Okay, then I'll do that and send it to you in the mail."
"Thank you. Also, please arrange for the other branches to be at the meeting."
After that, Diether left me and Angel alone and sent me an apologetic look. I still ignored him and focused on my computer.
"I called you a hundred times and you didn't answer. I went to look for you yesterday and you didn't open the door. You weren't at your house or Amelia's either. Where were you?" "What do you want, Angel? I'm busy," I asked coldly.
"Talk. Yesterday you owed me an explanation, and I wanted to explain to you why I was there as well."
"The explanations were already there yesterday. Today is another day, and I'm busy."
"Sofia, for God's sake, I need you to explain to me what Elisa said. Besides, I told you I couldn't just leave them like that. There's no reason to offend them for our problems."
I let out a bitter laugh. "Of course, because it's easier to offend me and my family. After all, it wasn't the first time."
Now Angel has an annoyed look on his face. "Stop the sarcasm. I didn't know your family was there, and I didn't want you to give a show at the club."Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Me?" I repeated and barked a laugh. "You did that yourself when you kissed your girlfriend in front of everyone. Can you imagine my father or aunt's face when they saw you? Of course, you don't care because you hate my family, but I am the one who will make a show for putting that one in her place." "Sofia, you caught me off guard, I..."
I held up my hand, already tired of the conversation. "Angel, if you don't have anything important to tell me about the company, please leave because I'm busy."
"I'm trying to resolve this issue."
"Okay, settle it outside my office. Have a nice day, and close the door when you leave."
"Don't be childish, Sofia. A marriage is solved by fixing the problems."
"Marriage? You and I are planning a divorce, Angel. If I remember correctly, I signed them and so did you, so I don't know what marriage you're talking about. Now if you are referring to the contract we had, I believe it has also expired."
Angel took a deep breath, and I could tell he was losing his patience. "I get that you're upset because I didn't believe what you told me yesterday, but try putting yourself in my place, Sofia. You're hiding things from me. She told me about it, and you didn't deny it, so what am I supposed to do? Believe you or her, I don't know what to think anymore."
"Believe whoever you want; believe what you want; do what you want; just leave me alone. If you're done, get out of my office because I'm busy."
"Are you really going to behave like a girl?"
Lord, give me patience so as not to kill him. I closed my laptop and got up before gathering my things.
"Angel, you already chose Elisa. If you have doubts, clarify them, investigate, or do whatever you want. I don't care anymore. I'm tired; like your mother said, this contract is over." Once done, I tried to leave, but he stopped me. "Sofia..."
"And since you don't want to leave my office, then I'm leaving. I have more important matters to resolve."
"Something more important than you and me?" Angel asked with gritted teeth.
"For you, you and I have never existed, and you made that clear last night. So let's keep it that way."
I walked away and left him there. It did not take long before I heard his footsteps behind me, and he stopped me again.
"Sofia, let's talk and stop this behavior of..."
"Angel, you can't have it all. Yesterday, you made your decision and I made mine, and they are not going the same way. Goodbye."
I left before my heart betrayed me. I went home to prepare for my trip. I need this trip to think and get some space from him. Before I left, however, I stopped by Angel's apartment and left something for him at the reception.
