Chapter 11
Faye was dumbfounded. Benjamin was someone who had regularly appeared on television back in the day. No wonder he looked so familiar.
“That was him?” Faye asked in disbelief.
Wilbur nodded, and Faye frowned. “Mister Grayson’s identity is quite something. His granddaughter doesn’t seem to like you very much, though.”
“Just leave her be,” Wilbur said.
Faye nodded quietly before saying, “Boss, everything’s set. I just received an invitation to Blake and Yvonne’s wedding today too.”
“Is that so? I trust that you’ll do a good job,” Wilbur said calmly.
Faye continued, “I’m planning to give them a big surprise at their wedding. What do you think?”
“The bigger, the better,” Wilbur responded, remembering how Yvonne had treated him.
Faye nodded. She glanced at the unfinished wine, then back at Wilbur. “Boss, would you like me to drink with you?”
“You can drink?” Wilbur chuckled.
Faye flushed slightly. “A little.”
Wilbur poured Faye a glass. “It’s true that I haven’t had enough.”
Faye raised her glass, clinking it against Wilbur’s as the pair drained the contents.
Following that, the two of them chatted as they drank. It did not take long for them to finish the wine that Benjamin had brought over.
Faye seemed to be pretty drunk and in the mood. She went to get another bottle from the wine cabinet and popped it open without another word.
Wilbur chuckled. Faye poured each of them another glass, and they continued to drink.
Over an hour later, Wilbur looked at Faye, who passed out on the couch. At a loss for words, he shook his head and said, “Don’t drink that much if you can’t take it. What am I supposed to do now?”
Without any other options, he could only carry the unconscious lady upstairs.
Faye’s body, scent and aura ate away at Wilbur’s resistance against temptation.
At last, he finally took Faye to her room and covered her with a blanket, after which he rushed downstairs immediately.
After he had left, Faye opened her eyes slowly. She glanced at the door irritably and mumbled, “Was I not charming enough?”
The next morning.
Upon waking up, Wilbur decided to stay in his room for a little while longer. He only came out of his room after Faye had left for work.
What happened last night was a little awkward, and he was a little nervous to see Faye.
After all, as the boss, he had gotten his female subordinate drunk. That would not look very good.
After making himself breakfast, he headed to the park to cultivate.
Just then, in house number one, Susie was standing at the door of her grandfather’s room as she begged, “Grandpa, you’ve got a check-up due today. Please open the door.”
There was no response. Susie could only call out over and over again.
A long time later, Benjamin sighed. He was in the middle of cultivating. He got up and opened the door.
He felt like he was in prison but could not bring himself to get angry at his granddaughter.
Susie saw her grandfather and rushed up to him at once. “Grandpa, have you been eating the medicine on time?”
“Yes, I have,” Benjamin said calmly.
In fact, he had thrown the medicine into his shoe cabinet, and it was still there.
Susie nodded and drove her grandfather to the hospital for a series of check-ups.
After they were done, Doctor Sepia said to Susie, “The results will be out in the afternoon. I’ll give you a call.”
“Thank you, Doctor Sepia,” Susie said before sending her grandfather home.
Once they got home, Benjamin headed to his room again to continue cultivating.
Susie began to wait anxiously. Her grandfather was very, very ill, and everyone knew about it.
Whether or not he had a chance at getting better would be all on the medicine.
It was two o’clock in the afternoon when Doctor Sepia finally called.
Doctor Sepia was delighted to tell Susie that her grandfather’s condition had taken a turn for the better, to the point where even his fibrotic lungs were getting better. It was truly a miracle.
After delivering the news, Doctor Sepia urged Susie to have her grandfather keep taking that medicine, considering how effective they were.
Susie agreed happily to everything. She hung up the call and let out a sigh of relief.
Based on what Doctor Sepia was saying, her grandfather was getting better, and he would be able to live a few more years with no issues. That was definitely good news for the Grayson family.
However, the thought of that scammer made her grit her teeth in anger again.
She has met people like this before.
The Grayson family were a force to be reckoned with in the country with unrivaled influence, and countless people wanted to get close to them so they could get whatever they wanted from them.
Her grandfather had told them before to be careful of people like that in case they used the Graysons’ reputation to cause harm to the country for personal gain.
However, her grandfather was clearly losing his mind with age. To think that he would believe that scammer just like that and forget everything he had said before.
At that thought, Susie could not help but give her father another call. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
“Dad, when are you coming back? That scammer’s making Grandpa drink and smoke now. He’s gone too far.”
There was a brief pause before an enraged voice rang through the phone, “Send me this guy’s details. I’ll be back tomorrow.”
“Alright. Please hurry. Grandpa’s getting worse and worse.”
Upon hanging up, Susie sent over Wilbur’s phone number, address and even his picture to her father.
Following that, she gritted her teeth and growled, “Just wait and see how my Dad takes you down, you lying bastard.”
It was five o’clock in the evening.
Wilbur finished meditating early and went to the supermarket to buy some groceries. He then headed home and started cooking in the kitchen. Having Faye cook for him all the time was starting to make him feel a little bad.
When Faye returned to the house from work and saw Wilbur busying himself in the kitchen, she covered her mouth in shock.
A moment later, she rushed up to him and said, “Boss, let me handle this. I can’t let you cook.”
“I’ve got nothing to do, anyways. Besides, it doesn’t feel right to make you cook for me all the time. It’s your turn to try out my cooking.”
As he spoke, Wilbur brought out a few dishes to the dining table.
“Thank you, Boss. I’ll get changed.”
Faye flitted up the stairs joyously, changing into a lace slip dress before coming down.
The slip dress covered everything it had to but would expose Faye’s long, glossy legs with each motion.
Wilbur smiled. “Let’s eat.”
He set the plates and cutleries for both of them, and they dug in heartily.
Faye was ecstatic, praising Wilbur to no end. It was a rather simple meal, but Faye dug in as if she was dining on the world’s finest foods.
Wilbur had three servings himself. The two shared a smile after eating, and Faye even lay on the couch with her legs on display. Whatever could not be seen threatened to be exposed at any second, drawing Wilbur in more and more.
Nevertheless, all Wilbur said was, “Could you please do the dishes?”
Faye sat up, her gaze flashing irritably. She put away the dishes before sitting down next to Wilbur. “Boss, it’s Blake and Yvonne’s wedding tomorrow.”
