Redmption 329
Redmption 329
“There’s no need to share any private details,” Lisa said, thinking that I was joking.
But I replied seriously, “Have you clearly rejected that suitor of yours?”
“Of course. I turned him down immediately.”
“But he hasn’t given up. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have sent you the takeout and flowers. And…” I paused for a moment, then continued, “He was spying on you.”
Her expression grew serious. I recounted how I had bumped into him at the door.
Remembering that I almost had an incident with a date who had followed me, I warned her, “Be careful, Liz. Men like this might try other things. Watch out when you’re coming and going, or driving.”
Lisa didn’t respond but instead walked out.
“Where are you going? Did you hear what I said?” I asked her.
She approached the nurse who was dozing at the nurse station and said, “Please pull up the surveillance footage from around 8:30 pm tonight. I want to see who entered and exited my office.”
Her precise timing was likely because she remembered it so clearly due to Keith’s confession.
The nurse promptly retrieved the footage, and Lisa turned to me. “The person you’re talking about might not be my suitor.”
“Hmm?” I was puzzled.
“I’ve already confirmed the person in question with the patient’s family. He isn’t local and left yesterday. The items he sent today were ordered online.” Her explanation left me baffled.
But the man had clearly been eavesdropping and seemed quite nervous.
Soon, the nurse displayed the footage. “Dr. Carline, is this the person?”
Lisa had never seen him before, so she turned the screen toward me. “Is this him?”
The man in the video was wearing a gray hoodie. It had to be him.
The footage also showed the moment I collided with him. She spoke up. “I’m sure this is not the suitor, and I don’t know this man.”
From the video, it was clear that the man had been listening for quite a while.
“Rewind the video,” Lisa instructed the nurse.
As the footage played backward, Lisa and I realized that the man had followed Keith.
“This person was looking for Mr. Marrow?” I asked her
“It appears so from the video, but we don’t know his intentions,” she replied. My mind was already racing with various possibilities.
Considering that being a doctor was a dangerous profession, I couldn’t help but caution, “Could he be seeking revenge against Mr. Marrow?”
“It’s possible.” She agreed. “I’ll send him a screenshot of the video.”
Lisa ended the call, but the image of the man’s panicked reaction after our collision kept flashing in my mind.
I couldn’t handle worries; they would invade my dreams and disturb my sleep.
Sure enough, this man intruded into my dreams, and I ended up having a dramatic dream where we were holding hands and getting married. I woke up feeling utterly absurd.
As usual, Brandon had left for his workout early, and breakfast was ready. After we finished, we headed to the hospital. Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“I’m going to buy a bouquet for Ellie.” I knew she liked flowers, so I got out of the car at the hospital entrance.
Brandon went to park the car, and I took the flowers to Ellie’s ward. However, as soon as I entered the hospital lobby, I saw the man from yesterday agai
He seemed to have seen me too.
No! More accurately, he had been staring at me the whole time.
Was this man targeting me?
I looked around. There were plenty of people, so it se
