Chapter 50
Chapter 50
Zane smiled. “Sorry to keep you waiting.”
The man on the left smiled. “We understand. You’ve been away from your wife for so long, after all. I
imagine you’d want to spend time together.”
The group was more interested in Lianne than Zane. “Hurry and introduce your wife to us.”
“This is my friend, Lianne Simpson.” Zane introduced her as a friend instead of an assistant.
The three men exclaimed in unison, “Your friend? An ordinary friend?”
Lianne grinned. “I am Mr. Atlas’ assistant.”
Zane’s eyes turned solemn as Lianne eagerly clarified their relationship. He then introduced the group
to Lianne. “Lianne, this is Maddox Queen and his wife, Layla, from Montclaire; Eugene Fuller and his
wife, Rosa, from Highsea; and Jeremy Webber and his wife, Sophie, from Serenport.”
Lianne had not met these people before, but she could tell they were big leaguers from their
names.
The heavyweights mingled in the same circle. Apparently, good-looking people had good-looking
friends too.
There had been rumors going around that the leader of the Atlas Group did not get along with Eugene
from Highsea. Still, they talked like they had been buddies for years.
After Lianne said hello to everybody, Eugene, sitting in the middle, asked, “Zane, we brought our wives
to the get-together. Why did you bring your assistant instead?”
Lianne was lost for words.
Eugene had a point. Why did Zane bring his assistant to a private gathering?
Was he aware of the position he had put her in?
Zane replied honestly, “My wife and I are going through a divorce due to irreconcilable differences. You
asked that I bring a companion, so I asked my friend for a favor.”
The lot was surprised. Eugene stepped forward and asked the question in everybody’s mind, Divorce?
You bade a necklace in Paris worth two hundred million dollars for her. Why are you. getting a
divorce?”
Zane gave an answer that left much to be desired. “Irreconcilable differences.”
The group left the conversation at that since Zane did not want to talk about it.
Feeling awkward for Lianne, Rosa considerately came to her rescue. “We’re among friends here. Just
make yourself at home, Ms. Simpson.”
It was hard for Lianne to make herself comfortable in this sort of private get-together. Still, she gave a
nod. “Sure.”
“Carry on with your talk, honey. We will have something to eat with Lianne over there.” The three young
and gorgeous ladies brought Lianne to the dining section.
There were only a few of them, but the restaurant boasted a variety of cuisines and desserts

She ordered a few of her favorite desserts and lobster. In short, she wanted to have a bit of everything.
As Lianne dug into her food with gusto, Rosa enviously said, “How do you manage to eat a lot but
barely gain any weight, Lianne?”
Rosa had asked for a tiny piece of steak, some fruit, and vegetables. She skipped ordering dessert.
“I make sure to work out more calories than my intake.” Lianne picked her head up to look at Rosa,
finding her familiar.
After much thought, Lianne finally realized who she was. “Are you Rosa Norman, the famous
celebrity?”
Rosa smiled. “Ah, oops. You recognized me without makeup on.”
“You’re more beautiful than on TV.” Lianne enjoyed watching her TV shows. Rosa was a young and
pretty woman actress with skills to match.
Rosa was known in public to be single, as Lianne recalled. It was in the tabloids that she got a sugar
daddy not too long ago. It turned out that Rosa was married, and her husband’s film production
company was the best in the country.
As they chatted, Eugene approached Rosa and sat next to her. He wrapped his arm around her tiny
waist and dipped his head for a kiss.
After the kiss, Rosa fed the last piece of steak into his mouth. They could not take their hands off each
other.
Not used to the steamy scene, Lianne turned her head away and accidentally locked gaze with Zane…
