Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 70

So, no one was home, and Ava's hometown up north was way too far to help out in a pinch.

Selena decided to give Joy a call. The phone rang and rang, but no answer. Who knows what Joy was up to-probably out dancing the night away-and who knows when she'd even glance at her phone. Talk about timing.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

Selena felt every inch of her body ache, her head swirling with dizziness, like she'd pass out any second. She hadn't checked her temperature, but she was sure it was high-worse than the flu she had last year. She needed someone to bring her meds fast, or she feared she'd end up in a bad spot with no one the wiser.

As she scrolled through her contacts, vision blurry and hands shaky, her finger randomly landed on Callum's name. Right! Why didn't she think of him sooner? He's a doctor, after all. Who better to call in a time like this? She was young and had plenty of living to do, couldn't just let it all end here!

Like a drowning person grabbing a lifeline, she quickly dialed his number. Luck was on her side this time. After a few rings, she heard his calm, soothing voice, "Selena?"

Clinging to consciousness, she croaked, "Dr. Campbell, I've got a high fever, can't move. Can you come over and bring..." Before she could finish, the phone slipped from her hand.

She wasn't sure if Dr. Campbell heard her plea, but as she tried to speak again, everything went black.

Her sleep was anything but restful-her whole body was in agony, limbs felt like they were being pulled apart, throat on fire, coughing uncontrollably. She almost felt like the Grim Reaper was at her door. Suddenly, she was lifted, and it seemed like someone was giving her medicine. Was it Dr. Campbell? Did he hear her call for help?

She tried to open her eyes, but everything was a blur, just a vague outline of a man, no clear face. Instinct kicked in and she cooperated, opening her mouth to take the water and swallow the medicine. Soon, she felt a sting on her hand, followed by a cool liquid flowing into her veins. Then she sensed Callum sitting by her side, gently wiping the sweat from her face with a towel.

After some time, as the medicine

took effect, the pain subsided, and she drifted into a drowsy state. It had to be Dr. Campbell-reliable as always. Without him, who knows what could've happened?

Feeling reassured, Selena fell back asleep under the calming influence of the IV fluids.

...

The next morning, hunger and thirst nudged Selena awake. She opened her eyes to find herself alone in her bedroom. The fever had broken, and though she was still weak, she felt much better. en

Where was Dr. Campbell? Had he already left?

Just as she pondered, she heard footsteps approaching the doorway. Wrapping the covers around herself, Selena sat up and looked over

instinctively calling out, "Dr.

Campbell..."

"Who're you calling?" A deep voice with a hint of anger came in, as a man with piercing dark eyes and a commanding presence entered, looking down at her from above. Selena was taken aback, "Why are you here?"

Wasn't he supposed to be on a business trip?

Her reaction only fueled Everett's anger, his words sharp and cutting, "You were hoping for Callum? Selena, do you even remember you're married?"
