Mr. You, Please Dote On Me

Chapter 53: I Have Face

Half an hour later, the doctor came out of the emergency room, took off his mask and patiently explained Shiyao’s condition to You Ze.

“How is she?”

You Ze, with his hair in a mess, was eager to see Shiyao.

“Sir, please listen to me.”

The doctor spoke patiently to You Ze. It was this burly man that shouted as he entered the hospital. When the doctors and nurses saw Shiyao covered in blood, they thought she was badly injured. However, it turned out that her broken leg was not life-threatening.

“We’ve dressed your wife’s wound in her leg, and checked her other body parts. That’s the only cut.”

“Nevertheless, she is scared and needs some time off.”

You Ze was relieved to hear this.

He was not a man who had not seen blood; on the contrary, he experienced more near-death despair than most people. Hardly had he felt pain at bleeding wounds in the army, but Shiyao’s injury was so unbearable for him.

“Will it leave a scar?”

This was another concern of You Ze, for Shiyao would never forgive him if it affected her work.

The doctor looked solemn and stayed silent for two seconds.

“Sir, your wife’s wound is nearly two centimeters deep and has got six stitches. If she takes good care of it, the scar… may not be so prominent…”

“No! Can’t you do something?”

You Ze ruefully stamped his foot, approached the doctor, and growled.

“Sir, this is the hospital, please behave yourself!”

Another doctor drily criticized You Ze. She had seen too many people like him, unreasonable and yelling without knowing anything. Gradually, she grew cold.

“Sorry…”

You Ze, of course, knew it would be hard. He had a bad feeling when seeing Shiyao was bleeding.

“Take care of your wife.”

The doctors left the rest to the nurses, and went on to deal with more serious patients.

After settling Shiyao in the ward, You Ze went to the toilet and washed his face hard. Then he came back to her, who was still asleep from the anesthetic in sickbed.

By that time, it was already daylight. You Ze sent a message to the manager getting Shiyao a week’s leave, and temporarily postponed the staff exam that was supposed to take place today.

With everything well done, You Ze was really tired and took a nap.

Hunger awaked Shiyao. After anesthesia wore off, Shiyao soon woke up, feeling terrible about her empty stomach. She looked at the bottle hanging overhead, and gradually remembered everything.

‘I’m safe. You Ze saved me. Ji Manqing, yes, THAT CRAZY BITCH, she stabbed my leg!’

Shiyao immediately sat up and threw away the quilt to look at the gauze wrapped in her thigh. It was not a dream! That woman really did it to her…

She couldn’t help shivering at the thought of Ji Manqing’s terrifying expression. It looked as if Ji were about to eat her.

Hearing the rustle of Shiyao, You Ze opened his eyes and looked at the quiet girl Shiyao, wondering how to break the silence.

“Yaoyao…,” said You Ze hoarsely. Shiyao looked at his messy hair and bloodshot eyes. In stark contrast with his usual appearance, he now looked rather down at the heels.

“Thank you…,” said Shiyao slowly, “for saving my life.”

Wide awake, Shiyao decided not to be ruled by emotion anymore. Her mind suggested that she should review her relationship with You Ze.

She couldn’t just fall into it without warning.

“Sorry…”

You Ze was often sharp-tongued, arrogant and not good at coaxing girls, but now he was sorry from the bottom of his heart.

“For what?”

Shiyao smiled politely, as if she didn’t figure out what You Ze was saying.

“You don’t have to do this. Who you want to find, to be with, is your own business. I just do what a wife should do in front of Nanna and mom. Suit yourself with the rest.”

Shiyao blurted out her thoughts in a breath, unaware of passion in her emotion.

“It’s just a matter of time before someone tries to hurt me. If not this time, it will happen again.”

Shiyao sighed and leaned helpless on the headboard. She really wanted a life of peace, but the reality was always not going in a way she wished.

Shiyao thought that she had made her attitude clear, but in You Ze’s eyes, she was still jealous like a spoiled child. Obviously angry, she insisted that it was none of her business.

‘Alas, women are really difficult to read, always denying what they’re thinking,’ You Ze secretly whinged.

“If you don’t mind what I do with other women, why did you ruin Zhao Xue’er’s face?”

Speechless, Shiyao, with eyes wide open, got up the nerve to defend herself.

“I have face! So what? That’s not men’s privilege!”

Shiyao was angrier when You Ze mentioned it again.

‘Just admit your infidelity. Why bring me together and let me see it?’Shiyao’s chest hurt badly, and she kept calling You Ze a psycho in her heart.

“You claimed that you would never cheat on me, but you’re the one that broke the promise and did the worst thing.”

“I DIDN’T! You can’t accuse me of things I didn’t do.”

You Ze blinked innocently, wondering why he liked Shiyao’s reaction full of jealousy.

“Well, well, well, you didn’t. Someone set you up. I was blind. I was wrong, okay?”

Shiyao rolled her eyes and turned her head away from You Ze.

“How do you know I was framed?”

You Ze took Shiyao’s hands and explained solemnly,

“It’s my fault. I was off guard and let her pull me down, but I swear I wouldn’t have gone near her if she hadn’t grabbed me.”

Shiyao blinked and said nothing. You Ze continued.

“I stopped you because killing is a crime. I’m willing to do anything for you to vent your anger, just don’t do it yourself…”

You Ze calmly explained. Shiyao’s heart was pounding; she realized that the man was such a flirt that he won her heart so easily.

“Who believes you!”

Shiyao angrily gnawed at the quilt. ‘Didn’t I decide to keep my distance from You Ze? How come I drop my newly-built defenses just after hearing a few words from him?’

“If you don’t believe, I can show you the camera.”

You Ze chuckled.

“By the way, where’s Ji Manqing? She said…”

“She is dead.”

You Ze interrupted before Shiyao told him that Qin Wen was the guy behind the scenes.

Shiyao wondered, “You did it?”

“Suicide,” You Ze said lightly, as if accustomed to it,

“Before Zhong Yi killed her.”

“You Ze…”

Shiyao murmured. Although she often made troubles, and saw blood, it was the first time she knew that a living person died all of a sudden.
