Chapter 89: Lin Wan’s Last Wish
It was already 7:30 pm when You Ze reached home from City B.
“Master,” The butler came quickly up to him.
“Mmm…”
You Ze responded coolly, looking up at the bedroom upstairs.
“Master, Mrs. You is not in,” the butler said, trembling with fear.
“Eh? Where did she go?”
‘Didn’t she go out and come back soon? Why is she out again?’
Without Xiao Qing in the house, You Ze was relieved.
“Master, Mrs. You was very strange after coming back this afternoon. She locked herself up in the room for several hours, and then clamored to go to Qin’s house just now. But please, Master. Don’t worry. Miss Xiao has gone with her.”
You Ze squinted his deep-set eyes, and his hand reaching for a cup paused in the air.
“The Qin’s?”
…
Shiyao anxiously wriggled about in the car.
She was dressed in a casual outfit, wore a high ponytail and used no makeup, her fair face showing great worries.
After an afternoon of hesitation, Shiyao decided to meet grandpa.
If Shiyao kept it a secret, her uncle would never know that grandpa was his father. It was clear in Lin Wan’s letter that she deeply regretted it before she died and her greatest wish was to let Shi Xiang return to his family.
That was her and Qin Zheng’s only child!
Shiyao held the bag tightly to her bosom, her eyes full of anxiety. She looked like a frightened deer now.
“Are you sure you can?”
Xiao Qing sensed that Shiyao was not herself today. She didn’t want to see anything wrong on her first day at work.
“No problem…” Shiyao forced a smile.
They soon arrived at the Qin’s gate, and the servant who saw the car hurriedly reported to Qin Shaofeng.
However, Shiyao didn’t know that she had been the most annoying thorn in the Qins’ side.
On her last visit at the same time, she put Qin Wen into prison. Shiyao stood at the door, afraid to move.
Without You Ze by her side, she was somewhat unconfident.
“I’ll be with you. Let’s go.” Xiao Qing put her arm on Shiyao’s shoulder.
Shiyao took a deep breath, then recovered her composure, and stepped in.
She was here for grandpa today, not anyone else.
All members of the Qin family were in, including the Qin brothers and their wives, Qin Yu, Qin Yang, and also three natural children of Qin Shaofeng!
They looked quite calm when Shiyao came in, for they had been ready.
“Where’s grandpa?”
Shiyao went straight to Qin Shaofeng and asked coldly.
Qin Shaofeng put down the chopsticks and grabbed Shiyao’s arm, pulling her aside. Just as he came to a stop, he was shaken off by Shiyao.
“I’m asking you!”
Qin Shaofeng frowned a little. Today was his first time to take his three illegitimate children back for dinner, but their happy reunion was interrupted by Shiyao’s arrival.
“What do you want?”
Noticing the bag in her arms, Qin Shaofeng was subconsciously on the alert.
Shiyao impatiently pushed Qin Shaofeng away. Anyway, she could find grandpa by herself. She knew where his room was!
The second Mrs. Qin had been glancing at Shiyao out of the corner of her eye. If Song Meirong hadn’t held her hand tight, she would have freaked out the moment Shiyao came in.
“Not now. Calm down!”
Of Qin Shaofeng’s three natural children, the eldest was a son, Qin Zhengyu, one year older than Shiyao, which showed that he had more than one woman by then.
The second was Qin Zhenglu, one year younger than Shiyao. She was also wayward, but not as stupid as Qin Wen.
The youngest son was only six years old, and also the favorite child of Qin Shaofeng.
Sick of the family happy together, Shiyao hurried off the living room.
No sooner had she walked to the backyard than Qin Yu stopped her.
“Sis,” Qin Yu called in a clear voice.
She was only 17 years old and barely met Shiyao. The first time when Shiyao came here, she was just a baby.
“What’s up?”
Shiyao stared icily at Qin Yu. Although the girl in front of her looked innocent, she would unconsciously guard against anyone in this house.
“Are you looking for grandpa? He’s ill and moves to the west room.”
Regardless of Shiyao’s attitude, Qin Yu led her straight to the old man’s room.
“The butler said that grandpa is seriously ill and no one should meet him except the doctor. Grandpa has been in the room for many days, so uncle openly brings the children back.”
Qin Yu’s voice sounded emotionless, as if these things had nothing to do with her.
“Thank you,” Shiyao slightly nodded, motioning Xiao Qing to wait for her outside. Then she pushed open the door and walked in.
‘Grandpa is ill, seriously ill. Should I tell him the truth now?’
Shiyao stood at the door and lowered her head in thought, her determination wavering.
“Yaoyao?”
In the room came old Qin’s laughing voice. Shiyao sweetly answered and went up to him.
“Grandpa, what’s wrong with you? Why don’t you tell me you are ill?”
Old Qin was lying on the rocking chair playing chess with the butler. Seeing Shiyao come in, he quickly sat up.
Shiyao looked carefully at grandpa, feeling quite worried. If she hadn’t come, she would have known nothing about his illness.
“Silly girl,” old Qin laughed, “I’m fine.” His voice was clear and powerful, not at all like that of a sick man.
“Why did Qin Yu say you are seriously ill and hadn’t gone out for many days? Grandpa, you really give me a scare!” Shiyao pursed her lips, aggrieved.
“You can go out.” Old Qin sent the butler away, and then let Shiyao sit down.
“Silly girl, how can I not tell you if something happens to me?”
Old Qin joked.
“Then… Then why did you pretend to be ill?” Shiyao was relieved to hear that grandpa was fine.
“Nothing, I’m old. I’d like to live alone, free from any disturbance.”
He was really tired of the families’ crying, which was either for Qin Wen, or for the property.
“Do I disturb you?” Shiyao pouted proudly.
“You know it, my dear!”
Their happy chat continued for a while, during which Shiyao didn’t get a chance to ask.
“Grandpa, I… I want to know something about grandma.”
Shiyao said tentatively.
“Don’t you know her?”
Qin brothers’ mother was the woman in old Qin’s forced marriage. Although he didn’t love her, she was indeed a gentle and virtuous woman. She died shortly after Qin Shaogang was born. After that, old Qin never remarried, so everyone assumed he had only had one wife.
“I mean, I mean, grandpa, have you ever loved someone when you were young?”
“Love…” Old Qin muttered.
“Of course I have. So has everyone.” Old Qin said frankly, with a wave of nostalgia in his tone.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
“So, can you tell me about her?” Shiyao asked, pretending to be curious.
“Certainly,” Old Qin lovingly stroked Shiyao’s hair. Her and Shi Nian’s eyes were like Lin Wan’s, so every time old Qin saw her, he would think of Lin Wan.
