Chapter 37
Chapter 37 A Shabby Christopher The news about Centurion Corporation making plans to develop Dragon Valley shook the whole of
Jadeborough.
In principle, they had agreed to invest two billion in the project. However, the actual capital required,
along with its potential commercial value, would easily go beyond two billion.
Therefore, the entire real estate industry in Jadeborough was extremely excited about the upcoming
project.
Needless to say, the leading company was Cordrington Corporation.
This was the first time Centurion Corporation had ever collaborated with an external party. Due to the
extensive connections that Cordrington Corporation had, the media actively promoted the news, which
resulted in a triumphant boost of stock value for the company.
Christopher laughed when he read the news. I bet Jared will cry when he sees the share prices in three
days’ time.
Three days later, Centurion Corporation launched its first official press conference at Centurion Hotel
as early as seven in the morning.
With its prominent status in the region, it was no surprise that the rich and famous were among its
cordially invited distinguished guests. Hence, many flashy cars were seen around the hotel. Countless
people surrounded the premises with the hope that they, too, could attend the event.
The team from Cordrington Corporation was led by Jared. That was Harold’s way of professing his faith
in his son’s capability. Fabian, Fabio, and several younger Murrays tagged along with the team from
Cordrington Corporation. Otherwise, they could only watch on from the outside. After all, with the
Murrays’ current status, they did not even have the right to enter the hotel.
Rumor had it that Cordrington Corporation had successfully signed a contract with Centurion
Corporation. Hence, when Jared showed up, he immediately became the focus of everyone’s attention.
“Mr. Cordrington, we wouldn’t have even gotten the chance to step foot into the hotel if it weren’t for
you.” Fabio tried to butter Jared up.
The latter smirked smugly as he enjoyed being in the limelight.
Not too far away from him, Christopher, Julianna, Frank, and Cindy shared a completely different fate.
With the invitation card that Amanda had given Christopher, he supposedly could attend the event with
his guests. Unfortunately, the security guards held them all back upon seeing Christopher’s casual
attire.
Christopher had already gotten changed and was not wearing his usual camouflage outfit. Despite so,
he still looked shabby.
“This is really embarrassing! Had I known this would happen, I would have refused to listen to
Christopher. I thought I could get an eye-opening experience this time; who knew I wouldn’t even get to
enter!” Cindy seethed.
“Oh, Julianna, you’re here! You’re still as gorgeous as ever,” praised Jared. When Christopher and the
others turned around and saw him, Julianna visibly shuddered and hid behind her husband. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“You aren’t in any position to comment about my wife,” Christopher said coldly with a grim expression.
This was the first time the duo met since the banquet at the Cordrington residence. Before this, Jared
had been wary of Christopher because the latter knew Lupine, a renowned secretary in the city.
However, that secretary had been transferred away a few days ago.
“Christopher, I know exactly why you’re so brazen. You had the backing of Mr. Synder, right? Perhaps
you don’t know that he has been asked to relocate just several days ago. There goes your powerful
support. Hahaha!”
To Jared, losing the backing of Lupine would mean that Christopher had become a nobody who could
be bullied and crushed to death easily.
“What? Mr. Synder has been transferred?”
Frank and Cindy were shocked to the core. Now that Mr. Synder is gone, what should we do if we can’t
claim that we know him or use his name anymore?
Julianna, too, became anxious when she heard the news. She was aware Christopher and Lupine were
ex-comrades. If the former got into trouble, the latter would surely lend a helping hand.
However, it seemed like Christopher was going to have to face Cordrington Corporation on his own
now. Julianna could not help but worry about the worst-case scenario.
“So what if he’s been transferred? I’ve never planned to depend on anyone,” sneered Christopher.
He was his own most powerful backing.
“Tsk… You don’t need any external support? Do you think that you could live to stand here today if Mr.
Synder hadn’t appeared in the nick of time that day?” Jared mocked.
Christopher smiled in response. If he had the intention to kill, Jared would have been a corpse by now.
“Mr. Cordrington, have you heard that the useless Christopher has also tendered for the project? He
recorded a bid of a hundred thousand. Isn’t he crazy?” Fabio was quick to flatter Jared.
“A hundred thousand? That’s as much as my allowance for one day! Please don’t tell me that’s all
you’ve got.” Jared felt a sense of superiority as he cast a disdainful look at Christopher.
Seeing that the latter ignored him completely, Jared became even more annoyed.
He was fuming inside when he recalled how Christopher wreaked havoc the other day. Suddenly, an
idea dawned upon him when he was about to go ballistic, making him change his mind. He turned to
the guards and requested, “Security, these people are my friends. I hope that you can let them in.”
The security guards acknowledged Jared’s presence and answered reverently, “Your wish is our
command, Mr. Cordrington.”
