Chapter 2223
Chapter 2223
The policeman said, "You're under arrest for illegally assembling and being a nuisance to the public!"
La Iter, who enjoyed watching legal dramas in his spare time, prided himself on being well versed in the law.
He shouted, "That's absurd! We're not gathering nor causing any nuisance! It's just the two of us! You can't charge us for that!"
At that, the policeman's tone turned somewhat cold. "Do you not see how popular that shop is? The owners have a strong backing, yet you two dare make a scene here! Now they want you detained for some time; pray and hope they show you some mercy."
Yesseca had immediately contacted the police when she saw the Fernandez couple.
But she didn't take advantage of Selina's influence.
Because Selina's background was fearsome, and she only wanted to teach them a lesson.
If she used her name, it wouldn't be as simple as a lesson anymore.
However, to her surprise, the officers at the police station were well- connected despite that she didn't use Selina's influence. Because the grand opening of her patisserie affected the traffic that day, the police were sent to maintain order.
As for Yesseca's identity, the police were obviously in the know.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
Therefore, after receiving her call, the police station immediately sent a good handful of officers over, even asking what she would like them to do with Preslie's parents after they had arrested them.
She had initially only wanted the police to take them for ideological counseling, but after some thought, she knew nothing would change, knowing the couple's character.
If they were capable of such self-awareness, they wouldn't be this shameless in the first place.
They still had to be taught a substantial lesson!
Yesseca then asked if they could be locked up for a week.
The policeman agreed immediately.
After Preslie's parents were taken away, Yesseca instantly felt peace and quiet had returned.
She thought if the couple could realize their wrongdoing, she would still give them the half a million on Preslie's account.
Three days later...
Sheldon returned to the DNA paternity test center to collect the test results.
The results were sealed in an envelope; he naturally didn't dare take a peek but brought it straight to Tremaine.
Tremaine's face ashen, reading the result.
Sure enough!
Montez and Qiana weren't related by blood at all!
Qiana wasn't Montez's biological mother!
His blood boiled at the discovery.
How could he be fooled by a woman?!
Slam!
With a heavy thump, Tremaine punched the wall.
The force created a winding crack.
Sheldon was shocked.
He had a hunch at the result.
Of course, Sheldon naturally didn't dare say anything at this time, only standing still by Tremaine's side.
Tremaine's anger alleviated after a long time, slowly fading, leaving nothing but coldness and mockery.
"To think I'm actually this stupid," He said, squeezing his words through his gnashed teeth.
Sheldon kept quiet.
"You are not allowed to say anything about the DNA test," Tremaine ordered.
Sheldon didn't need his reminder to know what he should do.
"Yes, Mr. Tremaine."
"How many more days until my wedding with Qiana?" Tremaine suddenly asked.
"Five more days, Mr. Tremaine." Sheldon took a wary glance at Tremaine.
He had a hunch the wedding would be canceled only for Tremaine to say, "See to it that the wedding must be held as scheduled." Sheldon was stumped.
Tremaine's words had left him dumbfounded.
Based on Mr. Tremaine's reaction, the result must show Montez and Qiana weren't related by blood. Qiana must've lied.
But why would he still want the wedding held as planned?
Could the result show Qiana and Montez were mother and child?
But if that was the case, why would Mr. Tremaine be angry and even say he was stupid?
Sheldon was truly baffled.
Night fell.
After dinner, Selina pulled Matthew aside.
Selina deduced when Yesseca could expand her business and open a branch with the profit Yesseca was making with the patisserie.
She just had to invest some money into Yesseca's business to help with the expansion.
But she knew Yesseca wouldn't agree to it.
Yesseca wanted to work for it.
After calculating for a good twenty minutes, Selina concluded that Yesseca could expand her store in half a year and open a branch in one year.
"It's still too slow, though." Selina glum. "I hope Yesseca can bring her patisserie to the world in half a year."
Matthew smiled.
He tapped Selina's forehead, saying, "You're being too greedy. It's already quite fast. It won't do them good to rushit, especially business. Slow and steady wins the race."
"Alright." Selina could only agree with Matthew. "You're right."
"What's more, Yesseca's patisserie is earning far more than many people already," Matthew added.
Only then did a smile appear on Selina's face.
She then said, "I really hope Yesseca's business will grow, better if she can surpass our families."
Matthew, of course, knew that would be impossible.
Because she was in the business of selling baked goods, profits were limited.
On the other hand, the Whitlock
family and his company covered various sectors, especially with the
profits in real estate and finanee
brought to the company. A bakery
was no match to that. Content
Matthew, however, was willing to accommodate Selina's hopes to make her happy.
He said, "One day, maybe. Just like
you didn't believe Yesseca could walk out of that relationship and
throw herself into a new life so quickly, anything is possible.
The words "anything is possible" sounded warm to Selina's ears.
She leaned her head on Matthew's shoulder. "You're right. Anything is possible. Just like I never thought I'd marry you."
Matthew laughed out loud.
Just then, his phone rang.
Selina sat up straight. "You should answer it."
Matthew sighed softly. "Bad timing, this call."
Matthew turned slightly grave as the call connected, hearing the caller's voice.
He stood up and said, "Selina, something came up at the company. I'm heading out."
It was Tremaine at the other end of the line.
He had come to Agaphen City and wanted to meet with Matthew.
He waited at the bar.
The bar had been cleared out. When Matthew arrived, Tremaine was already sitting down with a few bottles of wine in the booth.
Matthew sat down, saying with a deadpan tone, "What's up?"
"Yesseca didn't do anything." Hoarseness laced Tremaine's voice. "I was wrong about her. She's innocent."
