Chapter 56
Chapter 56
Celeste didn’t have a receipt. The ring was bought by Liam, so the receipt was with him, of course
“Officer, is the person who reported the theft named Liam?”
The officer looked at her in surprise, “you stote from someone you knew?”
Celeste’s mouth twitched, gritting her teeth, “He’s my husband?”
“What’s your proof?”
For the first time, Celeste felt it was hard to communicate with the police the decided not to say more
and called Liam directly
As soon as the call connected, Liam’s deep voice came through, “What’s wrong?”
Suppressing her anger, Celeste coldly said, “Come in here and explain things to the officer
Liam seemed to know what had happened, as he hung up without asking any questions.
Celeste became more certain that Liam did it on purpose
In fact, Celeste was just in a hurry when she saw Trisha in trouble. If she had calmed down and
thought about it, she would have realized that a theft case involving millions wouldn’t be handled
casually at a local police station.
As soon as Liam entered, Celeste pulled him over, “Officer, this is the person who reported the theft,
and he’s my husband”
Liam didn’t deny it
The officer looked at Liam, then at Celeste, “He’s your husband, but you don’t live together?”
Celeste didn’t know how to answer. Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Liam, however, seemed to be enjoying the show, raising his eyebrows, “You should explain.”
Celeste glared at him, holding back for a moment before saying, “We had a fight recently, so I moved
out and stayed with my friend. The ring is mine, and I took it with me. My friend is not a thief.”
The officer frowned, “You two had a fight, so you reported someone else?”
Celeste hung her head and took the scolding, cursing Liam in her heart.
The officer lectured the two of them for a while before letting them sign documents to drop the case
and releasing Trisha
As soon as Trisha came out, she hugged Celeste, clearly shaken by the experience.
Celeste patted her back, comforting her, “It’s okay, it’s over.”
“Do you want to keep chatting here?” Liam interrupted the two, saying, “Let’s go.”
The three of them got in the car, and no one spoke.
The car quickly arrived at Trisha’s apartment. When Celeste got out of the car with her, Liam said “Ten
minutes.”
Celeste hesitated for a moment, then pulled Trisha along and left.
After taking her home, Celeste poured her a glass of water and whispered, “I texted Lena, and she’ll be
here soon. I have to go out for a
bit.”
With tears in her eyes, Trisha asked, “Will you come back?”
Celeste held her hand tightly. “Wait for my call. Then she added, “I’m sorry.”
Downstairs, Liam stared at the time.
Thirteen minutes passed, and Celeste finally appeared.
She opened the car door, got in, and sat down, not wasting any time.
Liam glanced at her, “You’re three minutes late.”
Celeste finally let out the anger she’d been holding back for a long time: “Liam, what’s it to anyone else
about what’s going on between us? Why did you call the police?”
Liam was really pissed off by her questioning tone and said coldly: “Why don’t you ask your so-called
good friend what she did?”
