Chapter 422 Crime
Freya entered a local cosmetics store, selected a few items, and purchased a cloth shopping bag.
By the time she left the cosmetics store, she had already applied a dark foundation to her face. She carefully covered her neck and wrists, making her skin tone blend in with the average Kundin person. With her long hair tied up and a duckbill cap on, there was hardly anything noticeable about her appearance except for her gender.
Once she left, she went to a grocery store to buy some biscuits and mineral water. After she had purchased two days’ worth of food, she arrived at a secluded street and noticed a private car parked by the side of the road.
She pursed her lips. If the car was stolen, the owner would definitely report it.
Once the police were involved in a rural place like this, Jamie would surely be able to track her down by tracing the vehicle.
In Kundin, only those with good financial backgrounds owned cars.
She walked around the street, constantly surveying the houses on both sides. Most of the houses had their lights on.
It wasn’t until she was close to the end of the street that her gaze fell on a particular house.
As she looked in from the gate, the yard was covered in leaves and dust. The grass was overgrown, and there was a rusty car parked in the yard that was covered with a protective
net.
Freya had a hunch that this house seemed to have been unoccupied for a long time. So, she quietly climbed through the window into the yard.
First, she picked on the lock and opened the door. Then, she inspected the car for a while, making sure that all the parts were still usable. Finally, she climbed through the window into the house and found the car keys in the TV cabinet in the living room.
“Well, that’s convenient.”
To be fair, Freya could still start the car without the keys.
She just had to hotwire the engine by connecting the ground wire, the live wire, and the ignition wire together and taping them up. Still, she didn’t expect her luck to be this good.
It was an unexpected delight.
She searched the house for a while and found an old mobile phone. Unfortunately, it seemed that it had been out of service for a long time due to lack of use.
Nonetheless, she found a charging cable and returned to the car with her prize.
It would be better to get her hands on a phone for the sake of convenience. There was just one teeny little problem. It wouldn’t be easy to get a SIM card in Kundin. At this point, she truly regretted not taking the hooligans’ SIM cards earlier. Yet, it wouldn’t be safe to take their SIM cards since they could easily identify her.
Freya glanced at the traces left by the car in the yard as she drove away from the abandoned. yard.
Since it was quite breezy, it probably wouldn’t take long before there was no evidence left.
She gradually relaxed now that there was food and water in the car. Plus, she still had some extra Kundin banknotes on her. It was the perfect time to leave the town under the cover of night.
Freya drove out of the town without a backward glance.
The drink she bought had caffeine, so she would sip on it to stay alert while driving.
She had been on the road for half a day, and according to her calculations, even if Edward tried to stop Jamie from pursuing her… Well, he wouldn’t be able to hold out that long.
If Jamie decided to give chase right after forcing his brother into compliance, he should be close by now. There was even a chance that he had gone ahead of her.
So, when she arrived at a gas station, she deliberately spoke in fluent Iternian to the attendant while getting her car refueled.
The attendant filled her tank, and Freya’s gaze fell on the phone in the attendant’s pocket. This gas station was clearly poorly managed.
Freya was feeling more accustomed to her dreadful circumstances after having stolen things the entire day. Thus, when it was time to pay, she intentionally got out of the car and discreetly stole the attendant’s phone.
Then, she walked to the side, removed the SIM card, deliberately broke the old-fashioned phone’s back cover, and dropped it on the ground when no one was paying any mind to her.
The keypad buttons scattered everywhere upon impact.
By the time the attendant realized the phone was missing, they would quickly find it there.
They would assume the phone had fallen and broken and that the SIM card was lost in the
mix-up. They would never suspect that someone had stolen the card.
Once that was done, Freya returned to her car and continued driving.
After about 10 minutes, she pulled over to the side of the road and inserted the stolen SIM card into her phone.
She couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh when she saw the signal appear on the screen.
She never expected to have such a talent for crime.
She quickly shook off those thoughts and dialed Radley’s number.
After a few seconds, someone answered the phone. Radley’s voice sounded deep and serious, as per usual.
“Who is this?”
Freya’s eyes welled up with tears when she heard that familiar voice. She didn’t bother hiding her choked-up sobs as she cried, “Radley, it’s me. Freya.”
“Frey?! Where are you now?” Radley’s voice immediately became urgent.
“I managed to escape. I’m driving out of a small town and heading toward the capital of Kundin.”
Radley exclaimed, “What’s the name of the town? I’ll pick you up right away!”
Freya thought it over momentarily and replied, “It’s called Kald. I’ve already left the town, and the license plate of the car I’m driving is MRPSLS.”
“Don’t hang up. I’m on my way!”
Kundin was not a big country. So, they would meet in just two hours since both of them were driving.
Freya charged her phone and placed it on the passenger seat as hope overwhelmed her.
On the other hand, Radley had just stormed out of his villa in Kundin’s capital along with his
men.
Connor’s men quickly gathered around him, and the convoy set off from the villa within a few minutes.
Connor drove the car while Radley was sitting in the passenger seat, his face tense. “Drive faster!” he urged.
3
Radley had been tirelessly searching high and low for Freya’s whereabouts all this time. He was also aware that Connor had previously investigated Kald.
Ever since Radley received the video of Freya being beaten black and blue by Jamie, he was filled with a burning desire for revenge. He couldn’t bear the thought of Freya being in Jamie’s hands. Yet, he couldn’t find her, no matter how hard he tried. The prolonged frustration had made him increasingly cold and detached.
Connor drove the car and blurted, “Mr. Monaghan, I’m already driving as fast as I can!”
Radley clutched his phone tightly. “Frey, wait for me.”
Freya drove her car with a genuine smile on her face. “I know.”
She arrived at another village after driving for more than half an hour. As she drove through. the village, she noticed several unfamiliar men dressed in black.
These men were clearly not locals. When she came to that realization, she felt her heart skip. a beat in trepidation. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
As she brushed past one of the men in black, she managed to catch a glimpse of a photo of herself in his hand.
These were Jamie’s men!
Freya instantly went on high alert. Nevertheless, she didn’t dare to drive too fast in order to avoid drawing any unwanted attention.
Just as she was about to leave the village, one of the men in black noticed her car and wanted. to stop her.
Freya stared at the man warily. Luckily, she had already disguised herself. Her skin was now a few shades darker, and she had added a mole to her face. People who didn’t know her wouldn’t be able to recognize her.
So, she calmly rolled down the car window, looked at the photo through the protective glass, and shook her head. She tried her best to calm herself while feigning complete ignorance.
The man furrowed his brow and started waving her away.
“Mr. Hood, it seems that Miss Kaufmann is not in Emald.”
Freya froze in pleasant surprise when she heard the name “Hood.”
Is he talking to Matthew?
Hence, she leaned against the car window, casually asking in Iternian, “Who are you looking
The man who was still on the phone impatiently replied. “It’s none of your business
Freya raised an eyebrow at his attitude.
On the other end of the phone. Matthew, who was conducting a thorough search was talking to his men who were stationed in Emnald.

He abruptly jerked to his feet. “Who is that with you?”
