ago. Now
She found Oona and gave her a frantic head–to–toe inspection for injuries. “Are you okay, sweetie? I’m here now, nobody can hurt you!”
Seeing Christine’s concern, a flicker of warmth bloomed in Oona’s chest.
Back in her former life, before the switch and this “retarded Oona’s life became hers, she had no family, only a handful of mentors. But after their training, they had disappeared, leaving her alone for years,
Oona shook her head to assure her mother she was fine, and Christine sighed, relieved.
“You’re a terrible parent, Christine! You’ve failed to properly raise and guide your daughter! Do you even know what she did to Verona? Left her dangling on the twelfth floor all night, making her sick! If you keep spoiling her like this, she’ll turn into a disaster!” Lauren launched into a scathing rant aimed at Christine.
Jealousy and resentment burned clear as she glared at Christine’s beautiful face. Even in her forties, Christine looked damn good for her age, like she was still in her thirties.
up,
Christine returned a cold stare. “It’s none of your business how I raise my child. Even if she messed up her!”
it’s my job to correct
“How delusional! Let’s see how you protect this little brat today!” bellowed Old Mrs. Walsh, glaring daggers at Christine.
She summoned the servants. “Come on. Separate them! Beat some sense into that dumb girl until she owns up to what she did!!
Old Mrs. Walsh had never warmed up to Christine. She’d always wanted a high–society wife for her eldest son, Enoch, someone of their own class
But Enoch, the rebel child, insisted on marrying Christine, a nobody from a small town..
He even moved out after they got married, all for Christine! After Oona, their daughter, was sent away, the rift between Enoch and Old Mrs. Walsh widened even further. He barely set foot in the manor anymore.
This, in turn, infuriated Old Mrs. Walsh, who desperately wanted Christine to understand her place who truly held the power in the Walsh family.
Christine held her daughter tightly, whispering reassurances. “Don’t worry, I’ve got you!”
Meanwhile, the Walsh family servants wasted no time. Whips cracked as they began to lash out at Oona.
Oona’s expression hardened slightly, but she couldn’t help but smirk slyly as she deftly dodged the strikes, positioning herself
to shield Christine.
Suddenly, shattering glass echoed through the living room as a priceless antique vase next to the sofa fell victim to a stray whip.
Old Mrs. Walsh’s face contorted in rage, turning an even deeper shade of red. However, hidden amongst the chaos, Lauren and Verona couldn’t help but be thrilled by the unfolding drama,
This evil mother and daughter, Oona and Verona, desperately wanted Enoch to keep pushing Mrs. Walsh’s buttons. They hoped he’d mess up so bad he’d lose his inheritance as the eldest Walsh child.
That way, everything would fall neatly into their laps the entire Walsh fortune would belong to the second son and his family, which meant Verona and Christine!
“Beat that little punk! Give her a good thrashing!” Mrs. Walsh roared, her fury reaching a fever pitch.

“Calm down, Mom. It’s not worth getting stressed and sick over losers like them!” Lauren said concernedly but secretly loving

In her mind, she added, “Go on. Go on and keep poking the hornet’s nest. Just, ugh, look at all those broken antiques now. Such a shame.”
She knew they would inherit all this wealth and these antiques someday!
