Taming The CEO The Escaping Wife

Chapter 166

Chapter 166

It had gotten even colder, and Letitia couldn’t stop shivering.

“Such a delicate flower, aren’t you? Just a few hours without heating, you seem to be on death’s door,” Shela dragged her out of the basement and dumped her on the ground floor, “Did you overhear my chat with Elgin? He’s on his way.”

At the mention of that name, Letitia slowly opened her eyes.

“Yes, Elgin is coming.” She clenched her teeth, “He will save me.”

“He can’t save you!” Shela bellowed, “You’re in my grasp now, and I won’t let you slip away. I’m taking you down with me! Understand? Don’t get your hopes up.”

But Letitia insisted, “He will save me.”

The more Shela thought about it, the angrier she got, and she let loose a slap across Letitia’s face, “That’s for being so stubborn! That’ll teach you!”

After the slap, Shela was still seething and gave Letitia a kick for good measure.

Muttering under her breath, “If it weren’t for humiliating you bit by bit in front of Elgin, I would’ve dealt with you. already! Do you think I’m keeping you alive because I’m scared to hurt you?”

Letitia looked at her and said, “Elgin’s so sharp and capable, are you sure to outplay him?”

“I can! Because you’re my last resort in the hole!”

“But I believe in him more,” Letitia asserted, “Because he loves me and he’ll do anything to save me.”

That comment hit a nerve with Shela.

She grabbed Letitia by the hair, “Love? Elgin loves you!?”

“Yes, he loves me,” Letitia responded, “He told me himself, more than once,”

Shela burst into laughter, “Yeah, right. That night, it was you who saved him, not me. He’s searching for you, the baby you’re carrying is his… too bad, huh? What did you end up with? Absolutely nothing!”

The child was always a sore spot for Letitia.

Shela got more worked up as she went on, “When I found out you were pregnant, I panicked. What if your baby grew up looking like Elgin? That would totally wreck my plans. So, I did everything I could to get rid of that child.

Who knew you’d be so lucky and tough, that kid just wouldn’t budge from your belly! But, what thrilled me more than the child dying at my hands, was Elgin being the one who ended it! I was over the moon when I heard the news… Now Elgin knows it was his kid, imagine his regret! Too late though, all too late.”

Letitia just coldly watched the manic Shela.

“I’d advise you to let me go, you might have a fighting chance,” Letitia said, “I’ll plead with Elgin to make sure both your father and you stay alive.”/

She was starting to plot her escape. Before Elgin arrived, she had to find a way to stabilize Shela. An inside-out strategy would increase her chances of getting out!

She couldn’t rely solely on Elgin!

“Live? I don’t plan on living, my dad’s life was a joke anyway,” Shela retorted, “Don’t bother trying to convince

me!”

“You’ll have nothing if you die… Think about it.”

“What do i have now!? Shela demanded, “Just a measly life, I’d rather drag you down to hell with me!”

Letitia patiently replied, “Actually, what you did before doesn’t warrant a death sentence. I can assure you to let Elgin go easy on you, so you still have hope and a way out.”

“Shut up, enough!” Shela interrupted harshly, “I don’t want to hear it!”

“You want to live too, right? Nobody wants to die. Shela, as long as you’re alive, there’s always a chance. Once you’re dead, that’s the end of everything.”

“Shut up, shut up! I’m not listening! I’d rather die than live a second-rate life!”

Shela had tasted the high life Elgin gave her, the riverside mansion, chauffeured luxury cars… now suddenly stripped of everything, she couldn’t handle the fall.

It dawned on Letitia that Shela was terrified of being broke!

There was a weakness!

Now she’s getting somewhere!

“You want money? Easy, Letitia said, “Just let me go and Elgin will wire you the cash, as much as you want! Then with the money… you can skip the country!”

Shela paused for a moment.

At the sight of her hesitance, Letitia kept pressing, “Dying is the absolute worst way out, don’t be rash…. Everything I’ve just said can happen!”

Just then, a bright beam of light suddenly shone in from outside.

Blindingly bright, it made both Shela and Letitia squint.

Letitia raised her hands to shield her eyes.

But Shela, quick as a flash, grabbed Letitia’s shoulder and ducked behind a wall, pulling out a knife and pressing it to Letitia’s throat.

“Who’s there? Stay back!” Shela yelled, “Stop! Don’t move! Don’t come any closer!”

The beam of light kept shining straight on.

Shela immediately pressed the knife harder against Letitia’s throat, “Turn off the lights! Or I’ll kill her!”

Then, the piercing light suddenly went out.

Letitia’s vision went dark for a moment before slowly adjusting to the normal lighting. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

Elgin stood there in a black coat, flashlight in hand, with an air of deadly calmness.

His face was a mask of dark intensity, with his gaze fixed on the scene before him.

Elgin had arrived. He was here.

At that moment, seeing him standing there, Letitia felt a surge of security. She knew he would come!

“Ah, Mr. Ramirez, you sure are prompt, Shela started to laugh, “I have been waiting for you and you finally showed up.”

Elgin stood there in silence, with no one behind him.

“Yes, I’m here,” Elgin replied, his voice deep, “Shela, whatever you want, just say it.”

Seeing the knife at Letitia’s throat, he lurched his heart.

Shela was not known for her restraint, and spot she pressed was right over a major artery. A single slice…. Blood would spurt, and not even a miracle could save her then!

I have no demands, Shela answered, “I just want you to watch how Letitia dies!!”

With that, she drew the knife lightly across Letitia’s neck, leaving a bloody line.

The wound was somewhat deep, blood dripping steadily, quickly staining Letitia’s clothes red.

Elgin instinctively wanted to step forward, but just as he was about to move, he heard Shela bark, “Freeze! Don’t come any closer!”

He stopped in his tracks, snapping back his footsteps as if on a leash.

Shela was backed up against the wall, using it as a shield, with Letitia tucked safely in front of her.

“Elgin, you’ve definitely set a trap around here, haven’t you?” Shela said, “You might look like you’re flying solo, but you’ve got your ducks in a row. I’m not falling for it!”

Elgin responded, “As you can see, it’s just me right now.”
