Tasting The Enemy

Chapter 34

Elaine POV

Fire burst out of my hands and destroy Avena now. The command repeated itself in my head a hundred times but it wouldn’t manifest into an awesome explosion that took my enemy out. I know I didn’t imagine my new abilities.

Azaire tucked me behind his back. Avena would turn us into charcoal at this rate.

“Relax, mate, relax, we’ll be fine,” Azaire said.

“Do you not see the fire?” I hissed.

“I’m working on a plan, Elaine.”

I knew under Avena’s subtle demeanour I knew was the heart of a psychopath. Now my powers had deserted me and I was screwed.

“Stop, you want me. Leave Azaire alone,” I said.

“No, no, we’re not doing this,” Azaire barked, and grabbed my hand.

“You don’t understand,” Avena said.

The fire blazed, engulfing the wallpaper and eating at the floor. Opal would be pissed. Opal, I thought. What had Avena done to Opal and her guards?

“You two can’t be together. You weren’t supposed to find your fated mate. You should have married that mountain brut weeks ago, but your Father stalled it.”

“It was your idea for me to marry Neel. I still don’t understand; why do you hate me!” My palms burned.

Good, rage-fuelled my powers. Azaire was in my path but he wouldn’t budge.

“If you’re going to kill us then do it fast or else we’ll all burn,” Azaire said, coughing from the smoke.

Avena laughed. “I’m the strongest witch for miles. You don’t have to worry about me.”

My hands turned to ice. I ran in front of Azaire. He yelled, I shrugged him off and let loose. Expecting another majestic burst of energy, a rage of bitter ice blasted from the ground engulfing the flames, freezing the bed and icicles sprouting from the bedroom floor.

Azaire wrapped his arms around my waist and held me tight.

“Enough!” Avena yelled.

I expected the ice to melt but icicles emerged from the floor backing her into the door and trapped her in a cage.

“Window?” I rasped.

“Window sounds good,” Azaire replied.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

“This isn’t over, Elaine. Wherever you run, I’ll find you,” Avena said calmly.

Her calmness scared me more than her rage. My mate and I hit the ground. Azaire shifted into a black wolf and gestured for me to get on his back.

“What about Opal?”

He looked around and sniffled.

“She’s not here,” Azaire said through our link.

I heard his voice in my head and felt his warmth through our mate bond. I climbed on his back and Azaire took off.

He raced into the woods, ducking under branches, jumping over rocks and escaping upraised roots. I’d never trusted anyone this much not to drop me. Blazer always dropped me when we went for a run. We ran passed the lake then I wondered where he was taking me. It was a long way from the Blood Moon pack.

“Where are we going?” I yelled.

Azaire didn’t answer. He ran for what felt like half an hour until we came into a clearing in the woods. A medium-sized house sat in between skinny trees. The house had dark discoloured wood, but the front windows seemed to be intact.

I climbed off Azaire and he transformed into the man I loved.

“That was awesome,” I giggled and kissed him.

He held me and hissed me passionately.

“You didn’t think I would drop you did you?”

“Never. What is this place?”

“Belongs to Richie, apparently my brother has numerous private properties.”

“Is this Blood Moon territory?”

Azaire shook his head. “Neutral ground. Come on, let’s see what my brother’s been hiding.”

From the outside anyone would think this was an abandoned house but the house was fully furnished, it was cold but there was a fireplace. Azaire found the stash of wood and quickly started a fire. He was the one naked I assumed the cold was getting to him but he insisted I sit in front of the fire.

“You’ve got some explaining to do, mate,” Azaire started.

“I don’t know what that was, Azaire. I’ve never done that, but it was pretty cool.”

“I’m not talking about the magic. I found the wolf enhancers, Elaine.”

My heart slammed forward. “Y-you went through my things?”

“I caught the scent. Why the hell would you be using those? You know the dangers. Fuck, Elaine.”

I stood and took a step forward. Azaire backed up.

“Don’t do that.”

I closed the gap and planted my hands on his face.

“It was the only thing that eased my curse. I couldn’t go back home I had no choice.”

“Why didn’t you tell me? We could have figured something out. This shit has side effects sooner or later it’ll start to show.”

Azaire cupped my cheeks and kissed me. “I don’t want you using anymore.”

“I’m cursed, Azaire.”

“We’ll figure it out. You’ll be fine but I’m not losing you to wolf enhancers.”

Azaire didn’t understand the pain I endured or the dread when the full moon was near.

“Don’t worry, Elaine, I’m not going anywhere.”

I got lost in his kiss. I traced my fingers along his solid and defined muscles. I itched each muscle into memory, I remembered every scar and hump. He lay me on the carpet near the fireplace.

“Where were we? Before Avena interrupted?” I whispered.

Azaire groaned against my skin. His lips travelled down my chest and settled on my waist. I raised my legs and gasped. My mate found my eager clit and sucked vehemently.

My mouth opened in a silent cry.

He sucked and kissed passionately. I could barely keep myself quiet. I cried out when his teeth closed on the sensitive bud.

“Azaire,” I panted. “Please…”

“I’ll take care of you, princess.”

His body covered mine. He pinned my wrists above my head and stared into my eyes. Half of his face was illuminated by the flame from the fireplace. I breathed heavily anticipating his penetration.

Azaire was impatient. He thrust forward and stretched out my walls. I cried out from a blend of pain and desire. He rocked hard into me. He gave me pleasure from the top of my head to my toes. Azaire was rough and dominating, but I liked it. I liked knowing I’d still feel his hands on my body when we were done. He didn’t spare me. He sucked on my nipples, giving generous attention to each one. His tempo increased. We were on the edge of release. I gripped his muscles as my walls clenched around his large member.

Azaire slammed forward and groaned at the same time I climaxed and saw stars. I moaned but struggled to maintain a grip on reality. I may have passed out for a second. Azaire had literary taken me to a different place.
