CHAPTER TEN
When I left the house the next morning, I felt a tingling sensation all over my skin. It was that tingling sensation you felt when you knew you were being watched. That tingle that shot you from head to toe.
I had convinced Cayne to let me walk and find a work but he said that he already found me one which is in a fashion line company just here in Manila which is the Anton’s Inc. This is where Mira is also working as fashion designer. I am really not an expert when it comes to fashion and designs but I know a little bit thing about it. We fought a little about it but I ended taking the job, because honestly, I don’t wanna stay all day in the house doing nothing. I know I have a bigger salary now but still I need to give myself something to work on. Not just by being a contract wife. And not because I lived with a billionaire didn’t mean I was gonna milk it for all it worth. I am an independent person. I know someday that I could go there on my own.
But as I walked, the sensation of being watched grew stronger. Chills ran down by my spine.
I quickly entered Anton’s Inc. and headed to the 18th floor because Cayne said this is where my office is located. After arriving, I hurriedly shut down the door.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Could Lucas have been right? Could Anica be really trying to kill me? No, no, no. Of course not. Anica could do a lot of things but I don’t think that murder can be one.
I shook my head. I shouldn’t think of it. Maybe I’m just being paranoid. I started to look around my office. It was very nice. It has a simple black and white painting, the interior were also very clean and refreshing. I looked at the outside of the building. Woah! The view is breathe-taking. You could really see the whole view of Manila. I think it’s more beautiful when it’s night. You can only see the sparkle of lights of the houses and other huge buildings.
I was so busy looking outside when I heard a bang at my door that made me jumped in shocked, fearing the worse.
“Bitch, you better open this door!” I heard Mira yell, undoubtedly attracting attention.
I hurriedly open the door and pulled her inside. I poked my head out and said, “Sorry,” to the small crowd that had formed around my office door. When they dispersed, I shut the door closed and turn to Mira
“What the hell, Mira?” I snapped. “You’re gonna get me fired on my very first day on work.”
“Fuck being fired,” Mira snapped back, clearly pissed. “When are you going to tell me that someone is trying to kill you?” My eyes grew wide to what she said. Oh no, Layla! That filthy mouth of hers really needs to be cut.
“Layla came by today. I could tell she was worried about something and when I asked her she denied. But unfortunately, she slipped. That the girl named Anica wants to kill you. The girl is Cayne’s secretary, right?” She shooked her head in an agitated manner. “Damn, you should have told me.”
“I would’ve,” I finally stammered out after a few seconds of silence. “It’s just that you’re a little bit… rash. You always do things without thinking. Layla isn’t as….. wild as you do, so I told her instead of you, Tiff and Shaina.”
“You’re damn right I’m rash, Raszhiel. Someone is trying to kill you for crying out loud!” Mira is obviously very exasperated. “What if something bad happens to you and we know nothing. My God. Are you even thinking? So what does Cayne doing in this kind of situation? He should stop that crazy secretary bitch.”
I shifted from aide to side to under her intense gaze.
“You didn’t tell him, didn’t you?”
I frowned and that seemed to be the only answer she needed.
“Seriously? Are you crazy? You’re with the guy who could easily put an end to this problem and yet you didn’t tell him.”
“I’m still not sure if Nicholas is telling the truth.”
“Now who’s this Nicholas guy?”
“He’s Cayne friend. He’s the one who told me about Ancia. I didn’t tell Cayne because I’m still not sure if Anica is really trying to kill me, okay?” I protested.
“So, what are you trying to imply. You gonna tell him once your dead? What the hell is wrong with you Raszhiel? Your safety and life is at stake here.” Mira snapped, livid.
“Are you waiting for someone to show up at your office with a gun and kill you here?”
My frowned deepened as I listened.
“Listen, honey, you gotta tell Cayne about this. Maybe he can help, or better yet he can resolve the issue,” then looked over her shoulder at me. “If you don’t tell him then I will.”

3rd PERSON POV
She left Anton’s Inc. and was walking back to the Shelton’s manor as if she were distracted. She’d constantly look back, as though she could feel her eyes on her.
The way she walked, the stubborn set of her mouth and the fire in her eyes.
She is so much like her, his subconscious whispered.
He shook his head and continued to watch her. He shoved his hand into the pocket of his coat and felt the envelope, overflowing with money. It’s time.

Raszhiel’s POV
I arrived at Shelton’s residence way earlier that Cayne and his parents. His parents decided to stay with us at the mansion because his mother wanted to keep a close eye on me. And right now, I’m all alone.
I wasn’t sure whether I should feel relieved or afraid. I felt a little relieved. Relieved that I didn’t have to face Cayne just yet. But at the same time, being here alone is nerve wrecking.
I took a shower and got dressed in a sweatpants and a loose fitting shirt. When I walked in the kitchen, I saw a note sitting on the island waiting for me. When I opened it, money fell out.
“I’ve gone home for the night.” It said.
“There’s money inside it, which you could already know by now. It’s an advance payment.
Cayne, Madam, and Sire went out for some business and be back by 9pm tonight.”

I looked at the clock. It was only 7:00. So I have to stay here alone for two hours? I was tempted to pick up my cellphone and call my friends over, but that was just so silly of me. I shouldn’t feel afraid of being alone.
I ended up making myself something to eat and leaving the money inside the note. I didn’t really want to spend the money, even if it came from a billionaire.
After I finished eating, I heard a loud buzz of the doorbell. I glanced at the clock. It was 7:40. So obviously, it isn’t Cayne and his parents. Besides, they wouldn’t used a doorbell because it’s their house and they have their own keys.
I warily walked to the door and opened it.
A tall handsome man stood before me. He’s the same age as me I guess, with shaggy brown hair and deep sea green eyes.
“Yes?” I asked timidly.
“My car broke down,” he said to me. He spoke with an English accent. “I was wondering if I could used your phone. I just need to make a call.”
“Don’t you have a phone with you?” I look at him distrustful.
“It’s dead,” he answered, showing me his dead screen as a proof.
My phone was upstairs charging. The only phone around was the telephone at the kitchen.
“There’s a telephone in the kitchen.”
I opened the door wider. Letting him in.
