Chapter 78
Chapter 78 Her Cup of Tea
Claire loudly spluttered as she sprayed the mouthful of oatmeal all over her bowl. She hurriedly raised her hand to cover her mouth as she started coughing hard.
Belle thoughtfully handed her a tissue. “I know you don’t want him to leave, Mommy, but you don’t have to react that badly.”
Claire accepted the tissue, wiped her mouth, and shot Belle a glare as she continued coughing.
Belle giggled and held her glass of milk out to Sean.
Sean chuckled and clinked his glass against hers.
“Let’s have a toast to celebrate Mommy’s reluctance to see you go.”
“Belle, that’s not it!”
“I just…” Claire said as she threw the tissue into the bin, but she was interrupted by frantic coughs once more.
Belle stood on her chair and grinned as she patted Claire on the back. “We know, we know. You don’t have to say anything, Mommy.”
Claire was at a loss for words. Just what kind of daughter had she given birth to?
When her coughing finally subsided, she solemnly turned to Sean and asked, “You’re heading back to Ascalon?”
Sean understood what she meant by that and chuckled. “If I’m quick, I’ll be back in two days.”
“Phew.” Claire heaved a long sigh of relief.
She had thought Sean was saying he was leaving for Ascalon, never to return to Silverton.
Thank goodness.
“Tee–hee!” Belle giggled with her hands held over her mouth. “How can you still say you don’t want him to go, Mommy? Look at how big that sigh was. Were you afraid he wouldn’t come back?”
Claire lowered her head and focused on her oatmeal. She did not want to continue on this subject any longer.
Sean chuckled again as his heart was filled with joy.
The airport was so far away from their place that Sean did not want Claire to send him off at the airport. Still, it seemed like Claire never even thought of sending him off in the first place.
Once breakfast was over, Claire immediately led Belle and Jon back to her place.
“Claire.”
Sean softly sighed and reluctantly made his request, “See me to the doors downstairs?”
Claire glanced at Belle and Jon. The two kids instantly understood her concerns from the look in her eyes.
“Go on Mommy. We’ll head home by ourselves ”
“Go!”
Claire smiled in embarrassment. It felt like she was a teenage girl being watched over by her parents while on a date.
Her life was quite a sorry sight. She was already 23 and a mother of two children by the time she first dated anyone. While she did not have any parents to breathe down her neck over the relationship, she had kids who did that.
She watched Belle and Jon walk into the apartment before she finally called for the elevator.
As they were the only occupants of the entire building, the elevator doors. opened as soon as she pressed the button.
Sean walked into the elevator first with Claire following close behind.
The two of them stood next to each other. While they were not standing far away from each other, the elevator was completely silent as neither of them said a single word.
Claire felt like she had to say something, but she just could not find the right words.
They remained silent even after they arrived at the underground garage.
The car was parked right in front of them as they walked out of the elevator. Claire even spotted Jason sitting in the driver’s seat.
She glumly stood there and watched as Sean walked over to the car.
He wanted her to see him off, yet he did not say a single word. How very unromantic.
Sean was about to reach the car when Claire let out a disappointed sigh. She was going to turn around to head back into the elevator when Sean suddenly turned around to stare at her with reluctance shining in his deep eyes. He pursed his lips and swiftly strode back to her.
In a few seconds, Sean had made his way back to Claire. He reached out and abruptly hugged her tightly.
“Claire …”
His warm breaths brushed against Claire’s hair as his arms tightened around her.
This sudden display of affection caught Claire off guard, but it also secretly filled her with excitement.
She adored passionate love. She just loved how much he could not bear to be away from her.
She lifted her arms to hug him as she smiled with pursed lips. “Have a safe trip, Sir.”
Sean ducked his head down to gently kiss Claire on the top of her head. The feeling of her heart beating made his voice hoarse as he said, “Whatever happens, keep me informed.”
Claire’s smile widened. “Okay.” Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
“Remember, you are mine now. No one is allowed to bully you. Strike back at anyone who dares to do so. If you can’t win in a fight, call Victor. If
Victor can’t handle it, wait for my return.”
Claire did not think there was anyone in Silverton whom she could not defeat.
Still, she softly hummed in assent as a sweet sensation filled her heart.
“Let’s put aside the issue of Jon and Belle’s schooling for now. We can talk about it once I return.”
Perhaps everything would change after his trip to Ascalon.
Claire did not know that, however. She softly chuckled. “It’s only a few days. Why do you sound like you’ll be gone for a year or more?”
Sean abruptly realized he was being rather long–winded. He gently nudged Claire. Staring at her blushing cheeks, he dipped his head down and kissed her on the cheek.
“A day apart feels like three years to me, let alone two full days. If it’s at all possible, I would like you to go everywhere with me in the future. I don’t want to spend a single minute away from your side, Claire.”
Tsk, tsk…
To think Claire had thought he was unromantic. What were these sweet words he was using now? It was making her heart race hard.
This 32–year–old man was truly her cup of tea.
“Alright.”
Claire tiptoed and gently pressed a kiss against his lips. Just as Sean was about to deepen the kiss, she suddenly leaped away with a burst of laughter.
“I’ll be waiting for you.”
She was teasing him!
He felt a strong urge to do something but knew that he could not rush things. “Wait” was a word that meant a lot of things.
Sean licked his lips to taste the sweetness lingering on his skin.
“Very well. I’ll bring you a gift.”
Claire held her arms behind her back as she haughtily held her chin up high. “Don’t be too stingy with your gift. I won’t be impressed by just anything.”
Sean burst out laughing. “Ha! Don’t worry. I won’t just give you 38 bucks.”
38 dollars?
What did that mean?
As she stared at him in confusion, Sean happily smirked as he walked away.
Claire could not help but ask, “What do you mean by that, Sir?”
Sean did not look back and simply waved at her.
Bewildered, Claire watched as Sean got into the car before the car drove away.
Even when she was back home, she was still wondering about what he meant
After thinking nard about it, she still did not beli
Finally, she pulled out her phone and messaged Sean on WhatsApp. They had not messaged each other ever since the day they added each other as contacts.
