The CEO’s Substitute Lover

Chapter 68: Treating You Like a Brother

During the day, he felt exhausted by the work his elder brother threw at him, and at night, he has to go on a date with a girl his mother has arranged. At this moment, the princess of Kuang Shi Real Estate is sitting across from him, sharing with him the magnificent Steam of Milan Fashion Week, and he is bored to death listening to it but has to deal with it with a smile on his face.

As expected, there is no second Octavia in this world!

Octavia Gills was discharged from the hospital, and the first thing she did was go to the office to file her resignation.

Eddison, of course, did not approve, inexplicably panicked that if he did, Octavia Gills would disappear into thin air.

“I’ll give you a pay rise, Octavia, stay, please stay, I simply can’t do it without you.” Eddison almost begged.

“President Davi, I know what I am capable of and I want to take some time off and go and do what I like now.”

“I’ll give you a leave if you want to take a break, you can’t quit!”

Octavia Gills smiles and shakes her head.

“I’ll go with you to do whatever you like to do.”

Octavia, feeling that Eddison was sometimes childish, said in a softer tone, “President Davi, I will leave the office according to the procedures.” With that, she turned and walked out of the office.

It’s a small world. When they reached the lift, the door opened, and Lilian Drye and Tredan Davi stepped out, the three of them freezing on the spot.

Lilian Drye quickly latches herself on Tredan Davi’s arm and clings to him like an octopus.

Tredan Davi stiffened and he instinctively tried to shake her off.

Octavia Gills’ gaze, however, had shifted away. Tredan Davi’s heart clenched but he did not move.

“Octavia, what are you doing here? Don’t you know you’ve been expelled from Group Davi?” Lilian Drye said arrogantly.

Octavia Gills froze.

Eddison was behind her, chasing after her after she left, “Octavia, wait for me!”

It was a little surprising to see Tredan Davi and Lilian Drye as well, his eyes falling on their arms with a mental smile.

Naturally, he put his arm around Octavia Gills’ shoulders, “Why are you walking so fast? You’re back, brother and sister-in-law? I have to go out for a while.”

After saying this, he walked into the lift with Octavia Gills in his arms.

Octavia Gills looked at the lift as the mathematical keys pulsed, not even noticing Eddison’s arms around her, all she could see before her eyes were Tredan Davi’s indifferent face. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Octavia?” asked Eddison, patting her shoulder.

Octavia Gills jumped away when she realized that Eddison was holding her in his arms.

Eddison couldn’t do much, “Let’s go down and have a coffee.”

Octavia Gills hesitated and said, “Good.”

Octavia Gills gently stirred her coffee and glanced at Eddison, “President Davi, I hear I’ve been fired, so I don’t have to come back and resign, so let’s do it by the company’s rules.”

Eddison looked at the calm Octavia Gills with some compassion, “Octavia, is he all you have in your heart? Can’t you give me a chance?”

Octavia Gills looked at Eddison in astonishment.

Eddison said seriously, “Octavia, give me a chance to be your boyfriend and I will make you happy.”

Octavia Gills laughed at his seriousness and reached up to rub his hair, “What are you talking about, you little kid!”

“Hey, hey!” Eddison rushed to rescue his hair, grabbing Octavia Gills’ hand and holding it in his hand.

“I’m serious.”

Octavia Gills tried to curb her smile, “Outside of work, I treat you like a brother. You’re like Gar, you’re such a big kid.”

“Octavia, you’re so hurtful, don’t you care at all about how I feel about you?” Eddison looked hurt.

“Eddison, I can’t hold anyone else in my heart, and with relationships, you can’t force it, either on others or on yourself.” Octavia Gills said softly.

“But he’s engaged and will be married soon.”

“What does it matter, his business is his business, my business is my business, it has nothing to do with him. Eddison, you’ll meet a better girl, don’t waste your time on me.” Octavia Gills smiled faintly and stood up.

“But I appreciate you taking care of me.” Octavia Gills rubbed his hair again, smiled, got up, and walked away.

Eddison got up in exasperation, but caught a glimpse of a tall figure in the window and couldn’t help but stop and take a sip from Octavia Gills’ cup of coffee.

Tredan Davi who was outside the window could not hear their conversation, but he could see their intimate gestures. The person he had been worrying about day and night was doing well, in good health and good mood, and was so soon in another relationship.

He punched the wall beside him, and the drilling pain and the sting from his bleeding fist brought a little of his sanity back.

Gar was discharged from the hospital.

Octavia Gills and Domino drove him to the east of the city in front of a first-floor store.

“Sis, what are we doing here? Mum and Eldwin must be waiting impatiently at home.”

Octavia Gills laughed but didn’t say anything, Domino took his arm, “My Prince Gar, we’re here, let’s go inside.”

Gar walked in suspiciously. Downstairs was a small shop with a dozen tables, clean and tidy, and it looked like it had just been renovated and should not be officially open yet.

Gar was in awe as Elda came out from behind a curtain with two large plates of food and said in a surprised manner, “You’re back?”

She hurriedly put down the dishes in her hands, came over, and took her son’s hand saying, “It’s so nice to see you not wearing a hospital gown anymore!” She was a bit emotional and teary-eyed.

“Mom! Why are you… here?”

Eldwin, who had heard the noise, also came out from behind the curtain, a steaming casserole in his hand, and said aloud, “Elda, Elda, get out of the way, get out of the way.”

Everyone rushed to lend a hand, serving the dishes and setting the bowls.

“Domino, come and help me with these things,” shouted Woodrow from outside the door who was carrying a fruit basket in his left hand and two bottles of wine in his right.

After a bit of hustle and bustle, everyone sat around the table to eat.

“Someone please explain this to me!” Gar protested melodramatically.

Octavia Gills sat across him, smiled, looked around the house, and said, “Gar, the landlord here is your brother Woodrow, he invested in this house to support Ma and Eldwin’s plan to open a restaurant downstairs and use upstairs as living quarters, Eldwin has set up your room and built a big bookshelf just for you for your barn full of books.”

“Really? Really?” Gar asked his mother, at the same time amazed at Eldwin.

Both smiled and nodded.

“Hey, hey, don’t you guys forget me, I’ve invested in this too, so I’m a shareholder, and I’ll come over to waitress when I’m on my day off.” Domino was resigned to being a silent partner.

“Yes, yes, Domino is a shareholder too, otherwise how could I and Eldwin with our little savings afford to rent a house like this in this location!” Elda said gratefully.

“Auntie, you’re shareholders too! You’re technically managing the place plus your capital making you major shareholders,” Domino said with a smile.

“It’s not enough that you guys did all this while I was in the hospital and I wasn’t involved at all.” Gar was not happy.

Octavia Gills gave him a playful smack on the head, “You’re getting a good deal! Aside from attending to you recently, we’re also exhausted from working in the shop, and you can do your part by taking the rubbish at the door to the dump later.”

“No, I’m a patient!” Gar immediately changed his tune.

Everyone laughed.

Octavia Gills cleared her throat, “Today, in addition to celebrating Gar’s release from the hospital, I’d like to announce a happy event!”

Everyone looked at Octavia Gills, “What’s the happy occasion?” Only Eldwin and Elda blushed a little.

Octavia Gills looked at them with a smile on her face, “Eldwin proposed to mum and she said yes.”

Octavia Gills pulled two small red books out of her pocket, “This is their marriage certificate, Gar, and from today we’re going to call him Dad.”

“Really? Really? Really?” Gar couldn’t help but stand up and stroke his heart.

“Oh my heart, be strong, and don’t let this wave of surprises scare you.”

Everyone was amused by his quirky look.

Gar stood up and bowed deeply to Eldwin, “Dad! I’ve wanted to call you that for the longest time.”

“Hey, hey!” Eldwin waved his hands with delight.

However, Gar suddenly reached out to Eldwin, “Give me the red packet!”

Eldwin hurriedly handed Gar a sealed red envelope and likewise gave one to Octavia Gills, saying repeatedly, “It doesn’t matter what you call me, I’ll always be here for you.”

Across the street, a black Bentley is parked and Tredan Davi looks away from the small shop and imagines the laughter inside.

It was a property he bought with his savings and no one but Woodrow knew about it.

He just wanted her to be well, and until he was free, he could only watch her from afar like this.

“The Elda Bistro has been doing surprisingly well since it opened and now requires booking to get a table. Octavia also knows that Domino and Woodrow have greatly helped, and they highly recommend this little restaurant.

Gar is recovering well and is in a good mood, having written a wish list full of things to put on his bedside, as well as including finding a girlfriend.

Everything made Octavia Gills reassured.

Today she cleared out all her savings to put in a card, leaving only the necessary amount for her living expenses and made an appointment with Domino.

Proven? al Sweet Shop.

Octavia Gills ordered Domino’s favorite cake and coffee and Domino was so happy that she hugged and kissed her.

Octavia Gills laughed and pushed her away, “Stop it, it’s not nice for people to see.”

“What’s wrong with that? Who cares?” Domino bristled.

“It could matter to Woodrow’s family.” Octavia Gills passed the fork to Domino.

“Don’t he dare mind me!” Domino stiffened her mouth.

Domino popped a piece of cake into her mouth and it melted in her mouth, soft and delicious, squinting her eyes in delight as Octavia Gills laughed at her, “Look at you, so easily satisfied with a piece of cake”.

“Of course, eating is the most important thing in life.”

“Octavia, what made you want to ask me out today? Is there something you need me to do?” Domino asked as she ate.

Octavia Gills nodded, “Domino, as I said, don’t be offended.”

“No offense, who are we, for the sake of the cake, I won’t be offended, say it, say it.”

“I’ve booked a flight to Japan.” Octavia Gills said softly.

Domino choked on a mouthful of cake and hastily took a large sip of coffee.

Octavia Gills stood up and patted her back, grumbling, “Take it easy.”

“Who told you to say that while I was eating.” Domino glared at her.

Octavia Gills was good-natured and funny.

Domino took another sip of coffee and asked Octavia Gills, “Have you seriously thought about it?”

Octavia Gills nodded gently, “I bought the ticket already.”

“Okay, you go ahead, I’ll go and visit you when I have a holiday.” Domino didn’t bother to probe deeper.

“But, Octavia, I’m going to miss you.” Domino was a little sad.

“Me too.” Octavia Gills smiled and shook her hand a little.

“Once you’re there, get your paintings done, I’ll be waiting for your book in the country, and if it’s made into a film I’ll be there to support it.”

Octavia Gills also asked her to keep an eye on Eldwin, her mother, and her brother which Domino certainly obliged.

Finally, Octavia Gills took out an envelope and handed it to Domino: “Please, give this to Tredan Davi.”

“Is it a farewell letter?” Domino picked it up and held it against the sunlight.

“It’s a bank card and an IOU note.” Octavia Gills stirred her coffee slowly.
