The Forgotten Luna (Adessa)

Chapter 08

LADESSA.

"Take her." The driver told Markus, the man beside me.

They both came out of the car, and I was pulled out. The driver lit a cigarette and rested his back against the car, which I was grateful for. I needed him outside.

Markus held my arm and led me behind the bushes. I kept brushing my arm against his body before I smiled at him when I finally faced him.

His eyes swirled with lust as he licked his lips. He was good-looking. A boy next door type that you wouldn't even think he was a pervert. "My hands..." I mumbled.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

"I can break your neck if you try to run away." He warned me.

I nodded. He untied me, and I rubbed my hands together, my eyes darting to his pockets. "Can you turn around?"

"Of course not. I'll watch you..."

I playfully rolled my eyes at him, flashing a seductive smile - the one I would use if I wanted to be playful with Kael. My heart was thundering in my chest because I was playing with fire. But I had no choice. I needed to get out of here alive.

I had no idea if Markus had a gun with him, but I was sure the driver didn't, as I didn't see any bulges in his pockets when I came out of the car. I just needed to see his back before I tried to run away.

"Please turn around. I won't be comfortable if..." I was not done with my words when his hand encircled my nape and drew me closer to him.

The next thing I knew, his mouth crashed into mine, and despite the sickening feeling that grew in my stomach, I didn't push him away.

He groaned, and my hands moved down until they reached his ass. When I felt nothing in his pocket, I moved my hands to his front. I grabbed his waistband and pretended to unbutton his pants.

He pulled away from my mouth and threw his head back while his eyes were still closed. He continued to groan in pleasure.

I took my chance. I gathered my strength and lifted my knee. I hit his groin before pushing him away as I screamed loudly, drowning his growl.

I ran toward the car and bumped into the driver while I kept screaming. "Help me!"

The driver's eyes dilated as curses flew into his mouth before he launched forward and lunged at Markus. He didn't even ask, and the next thing I knew, they were rolling on the ground.

I didn't waste time and jumped inside the car only to realize there was no key.

My body trembled in fear, knowing there was no way I could outrun them, until my eyes landed on the pistol on the dashboard. I grabbed it and got out of the car just in time for both of them to emerge from the bushes.

I think they realized I played them because both of their eyes were dilating and the driver already had his belt coiled around his hand, ready to strike me.

"Big mistake!" Markus roared as he strode toward me.

The next thing I knew, I had raised my hands and fired the gun. My body jolted, but I fired two more until he dropped lifeless onto the ground.

"Fucking bitch!" The other guy growled, and before he could say more words, I turned to him and fired all the remaining bullets at him.

He dropped dead right before my eyes. His blood pooled around him, and tears started falling. I kept firing, but there were no bullets coming out.

It took a while before it dawned on me that I had killed two people.

My knees buckled, and I slowly lowered myself. I was sitting on the cold forest ground, tears streaming down my face as I gazed at their lifeless bodies. Why did it come to this? What have I done?

The first rays of the sun touched the ground. They sparkled under the canopies of the trees as if nothing horrible had happened here.

It was daylight. Soon, people would pass by this dirt road and might see us. I needed to get going.

There was no use regretting what I did. I had to save myself.

I took a deep breath and pushed myself up before approaching the driver's dead body. I shot him in the forehead and chest. I didn't know which shot hit him first, but I was certain that both were fatal.

With shaking hands, I grabbed the key hanging from his pants and walked back toward the car, still holding the gun in my hand. I needed to hide this somewhere where no one could find it.

But where?

My head was still buzzing with questions, but my feet and hands were moving on their own. I slipped inside the driver's seat, and not long after, the engine roared to life. I didn't even look back as I drove away, leaving their dead bodies for anyone to see.

ALPHA KAEL.

What would you do if you had a perfect life, a perfect fiancée, but all of a sudden you woke up one day and everyone was telling you that you were married to a female you had never met in your whole life?

I didn't know what to do either.

I thought my Beta was playing a prank, but seeing how everyone was telling me the same thing made my head spiral in confusion.

I had an accident. And I lost memory of the last two years of my life.

I was married for a year to a female who tricked me into believing she was carrying my pup. Because I was a righteous man, I married her. Desiree told me that I told her we could still keep our relationship going in secret. She didn't want that life, so she left and moved away.

But she came back a few weeks ago because I called her and told her I would be divorcing Adessa.

Adessa my wife. Or should I say, ex-wife?

She was not the one I wanted for a Luna. They were right. She was difficult and arrogant, so no one in the packhouse or the pack liked her. I witnessed her arrogance and bad attitude when I chanced upon her shouting at Miranda. Miranda, my stepmother, and I never got along all the time, but I had never disrespected her. So, seeing her acting that way toward her made me conclude they were right about her.

And maybe it was the reason I asked Desiree to come back. Because I finally realized how terrible life was with Adessa.

But then, after she rejected me, I couldn't help the pang of pain that hit my chest. Not the physical pain, but something within me.

I couldn't explain it.

My doctor told me to take it slow and let everything sink in. He didn't expect me to make decisions and start running the pack again in less than 24 hours, more so to pass judgment on my wife right away.

To say that I regretted signing that divorce paper was an understatement. A few hours after the rejection, I was livid at myself.

I was starting to realize many things.

When did I ever make a rushed decision?

I knew that I loved Desiree with all my heart. She was the only female I paid attention to, and we'd been together all our lives. But I also knew myself.

If Adessa tricked me into this marriage, why was I still with her after a year?

I am the Alpha of this pack. I had no reason to stay with a female I didn't like. I would never wait this long before voiding our marriage if it were a failure. Adessa was my wife and stayed my wife for a year for a reason.
