The Russian Don – A Dark Mafia Romance

Julianna.

I walked with Flora carrying the dishes to the huge dining table. My eyes landed on Nikolai who’s walking down the stairs while typing something on his phone. No, Don’t look at him, My subconscious kept yelling inside my head. I refused to turn my head but from the corner of my eyes, I saw him pulling the chair out and sitting down.

Son of a bitch!

Asshole!

“Stop cursing me in your head and Serve,” he ordered while sitting, his lips curved in an arrogant smile.

My eyes widened in shock and surprise, How did he know I was cursing him?

I glanced at him and noticed that damn smile on his face. Is he some kind of mind reader of something? I thought while swallowing hard.

Jesus!

I was quite nervous not because of fear but, I don’t know but Nikolai was making me feel nervous inside. I have to admit to a kind of sick fascination with him, perhaps I’m just curious. Before his arrival, I was normal, the atmosphere was normal but now, the atmosphere turned into electricity and there was a heavy silence.

I took a pair of fish and placed it on his plate, I was well aware of his gaze on me, it was so damn hard to believe that sinner wears such a gorgeous mask. My hands were shaking slightly as I served him dinner,

“Flora!” He called all of a sudden making me jump back at his tone,

I glanced at him and saw him watching me, I noticed the corner of his lips slightly moving upwards. Is he smirking at me? I could feel anger and annoyance rising in me,

“Go away,” He ordered like I was a pet, I clenched my jaw and placed the bowl on the table, glaring at him and strolled out of there in anger. I could feel his gaze boring into my back but I cared less, I was pissed at him.

Fucking Asshole, Who the hell does he think of himself?

Die and rot in hell, Fucking dipshit!

I wish I put plenty of pepper spray on that fish, You’re eating bastard. I so damn wish I would have done that.

I climbed the stairs, literally stamping my feet on the floor and strolled straight to my room.

Such an arrogant and annoying man.

I hate him.

I pushed the door open and strolled inside slamming the door shut, I groaned in frustration while pushing my hair back. I walked towards the bed and sat on it, Calm down, Julia, I told myself while taking deep breaths.

What does he gain by irritating me, Bastard?

I wish I pepper-sprayed him more until he lost his sight, he deserves it.

After cursing him nonstop, I ended up feeling bored and grabbed a novel from the bookshelves. I found myself sitting on my bed and reading it. All of a sudden, I felt kind of bored and closed the book.

A thought of my family rushed to my mind and my chest tightened, my eyes burned. I know they wouldn’t worry about me or even give a damn about me being alive or dead but I miss them. I don’t know whether I will be able to see them ever again, I hope they are alright.

I hate you, Nikolai Vasiliev.

A knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts, Flora walked inside with a tray filled with food. She smiled at me while walking inside which instantly changed my mood. She has something in her smile which gives a kind of motherly warmth.

“You left without letting me know, so I thought to bring dinner to your room,” She said while placing the tray on the coffee table.

“I didn’t want to stay there with him,” I replied honestly,

“With Nikolai?” she asked,

“Yep,” I replied,

“Why? Did he say something?” she asked,

“No, he’s just annoying,” I groaned, Flora chuckled at my words and handed me the plate with food.

“Thank you,” I said while taking and suddenly Stella rushed to my mind,

“Did my friend–” she cut me off,

“Yes, She had her Dinner,”

“Thanks, Flora,” I smiled at her,

“You’re welcome,”

While having dinner, I asked her about the Island and she told me that this place is the safest place for them since Nikolai is a mafia don, they are under constant threat. The location of this island is top secret and only Nikolai’s trusted people know about the location.

“So he bought this island just like that,” I widened my eyes,

“Yes, He can afford it,” she shrugged,

“Of course, he would, He’s a mafia don,” I rolled my eyes. Nikolai is a huge mystery to me and I find myself more curious to know.

“Is his father a mafia don as well?” I asked, curious.

Hearing my question, I feel the change in the atmosphere. Her smile faded and her gaze went flat and hard, “Don’t talk about him,”

I stared at her curiosity eating inside me, “Sore subject?” I asked,

She nodded, “To answer your question, yes, Nikolai’s father was a mafia don… but I suggest you not mention Nikolai’s father in this mansion,” she said, her tone hard and sharp.

I nodded my head feeling slightly scared of her sudden harshness. For the next ten minutes while I was having dinner she didn’t speak to me at all, didn’t even look at me.

Laying on my bed, My thoughts go back to escaping from this island with Stella. I have survived one and a half days, alive in here and I don’t trust Nikolai, he’s a mafia don for god’s sake. The fact that he didn’t hurt me yet doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a matter of time before he does something truly awful to me or Stella.

I need to escape from here before that happens to either of us. He’s dangerous and unpredictable.

I need to find a way off this island.
