Chapter 36 – Forgiveness.
Joshua smiled to see Elisa having fun with her mother, Thomas also smiled and the alpha wondered how they could be a happy family if it weren’t for his mistake.
He left them having fun and went to the room to research. Joshua gave a slight smile, it was as he expected.
Hearing someone come in, he hid the paper beneath the others.
“Need help?” Thomas signaled.
“There are some here, I think we can understand more about where my ancestor is. Even if I already have an idea of where he should be.”
Thomas agreed and began reading the papers. He indicated to Joshua the story of Arsenius Aurelius, a military man who went mad after contact with Mother. The man achieved the greatest achievements and helped people, but in the end, his power dominated him and he went crazy. Committing suicide in the process.
Thomas read it, sadly. Poor man.
Joshua watched as his omega was charitable and kind, caring for others.
He smiled as he took Thomas’ hand.
“Can we talk about this?”
The omega confirmed, strange behavior of the alpha.
They sat on the sofa in the office and Thomas looked at Joshua, anxious.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“You know, when we got married, it was the happiest day of my life. I had fallen in love with you. However, when you didn’t speak, a prejudice got into me. My grandfather always said that a soldier should be healthy, without any defect. I was always trained to be perfect. So when I realized what you were like, it was like you weren’t perfect for me. But, you’re Thomas. You’re perfect. I’m not good for you.” Joshua signaled.
Thomas watched him, frightened. Not knowing how to react or feel about it.
“I just want to apologize for everything and thank you for letting me get close to our daughter. I don’t deserve this.”
Thomas signaled:
“Don’t say those things. You’ve changed, you’re being a good father to Elisa. I still have some issues with the past. But, you’re getting better. Don’t blame yourself like that. ”
Joshua smiled and shook his hand.
“Thank you. ” – Said giving a kiss on his face and left.
Thomas stood there for a few moments, thinking about all that.
——
The lunch was fun. Elisa had fun with her grandparents and Joshua and Thomas prepared to find Arsenius’ grave.
Before leaving, Thomas hugged Nayssa and Kyria, saying goodbye to them.
“Are you sure you’ll be all right, alone?” he signaled.
Nayssa confirmed.
“Yes. Don’t be afraid. We have to act as quickly as possible. We can’t stay here wasting time. Shadow will go with us.” she signaled.
The crow appeared on her shoulder, and he stung:
“Yes, Shadow protect it.”
Thomas and Joshua waved and watched the girls leave. And now it was their turn.
Thomas kissed Elisa before leaving. The little girl shook her hands and babbled. Joshua did the same and attacked her hair.
“Shall we?” Joshua invited the omega and Thomas agreed.
The path to the sanctuary was steep. Joshua held Thomas’ hand all the way. Until they reached the site.
The sanctuary was large, with the image of the Goddess in front and, inside, several tombs of the ancestors of the Aurelius.
They arrived at the largest of them, giving way to a cave. The body of Arsenius was intact, as well as those of the others chosen.
Joshua tried to absorb his power. But nothing happened. As he expected.
“What happened?” Thomas asked.
“I have to get into that lake. It’s part of something the alpha must do. A matter of the alpha-omega bond. Which is what matters most beyond power.”
Thomas held him by the wrist and signaled quickly, worried:
“Don’t do it. You don’t know what can happen.”
“We need this right? What will the world be like for Elisa if I don’t do this?”
Thomas didn’t know how to argue with that.
“If anything dangerous happens, get out. Right? Promise me.”
Thomas confirmed and replied :
“I promise you that.”
Joshua smiled and removed his shirt, staying only in his underwear.
The lake was cold as ice, he saw bright eyes in the background. Every military had to prove his strength.
The monster growled and attacked him. Joshua swerved, and the monster growled again.
“Are you really an alpha? How did you treat your omega? How could you act as you did? Do you think you deserve his compassion?”
Every speech, it was an attack. And Joshua couldn’t defend himself. Because he deserved to hear all that. He didn’t turn away or scream once. Nor when, his wounds were already deepened.
Until the last attack came with a question:
“Are you worthy of him? ”
“No. And never will be. ”
Thomas was scared. The only thing he could see was blood and it didn’t leave him alone. He understood the hand, trying to touch the lake, but something repelled him.
The omega thought several times if he should seek help, he looked at Shadow, but the raven said he could not enter.
However, when Thomas was about to leave, Joshua came out of the water.
Thomas ran to help him and cried as he saw that there was nothing in the right eye. The blood was so much that there was no way to stop the wound.
“Help. Let me ask, help.” Thom signaled, crying.
“I’ll be fine. I’ll do what I set out to do. Can you help me?”
Thomas agreed, trembling. He helped the alpha to rise and reach Arsenius’ body.
Joshua touched him and asked Mother to receive the power of his ancestor. Thomas sighed in relief as the alpha’s wounds began to heal.
But the eye was still bleeding. Despair returned and he signaled:
“Let’s hurry! Hold this against your eye.” he said, handing Joshua the shirt he had previously removed.
They returned to the residence of the Aurelius. Thomas had sent a message warning of what had happened.
Amaia and Cassius came running towards their son. Joshua was tired, panting. He fell into Thomas’ lap.
His omega looked at him in despair, as Cassius took his son and took him to his room.
A doctor was called and Joshua opened his eyes slightly, caressing Thomas’ face.
“Idiot. Why sacrifice like that?” the omega criticized him.
“It took. What matters is that you and Elisa will be fine.” He smiled.
He closed his eyes and fell asleep. The doctor came running and Thomas just firmly shook his alpha’s hand and cried.
