Chapter 1390

Chapter 1390 Gilbert and Marigold (65)

Alec didn’t know what else to say to Gilbert. He knew that Marigold would not be okay with it, so why didn’t he just tell her everything? Was he going to keep on lying to her until she found out about things herself again?

Would she be so easily comforted the next time it happened?

’I think you should give her a heads up so she’ll be more prepared.” If he did, Marigold would know about Gilbert’s scheme, and while she would still feel uncomfortable, she wouldn’t be too angry about it.

But if he didn’t and kept on lying to her, all the comforting he had done today wouldn’t matter. Marigold would still feel cheated, and he would have a much harder time appeasing her.

Gilbert understood what Alec was saying. However, he’d finally convinced Marigold that he was doing all this for her and the little one. How could she accept it if he told her that he was going to get engaged to someone else?

“I haven’t thought about how to break it to her.” Gilbert looked tired, which was rare, in front of Alec. If he could, he wanted to ignore everything related to the Bradshaws. But he just couldn’t. C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

Alec had no idea what to do, but he insisted on his stance. “Being honest is still the best thing to do.’

‘I’ll think about it,” Gilbert said.

Alec didn’t say anything else after that. After all, it was none of his business. He could only offer his opinion about the matter. It was still up to Gilbert to figure out the rest. But then, it looked like he didn’t want to.

He could only hope that Gilbert would have no regrets in the end.

Soon, the car arrived at the backdoor of Gilbert’s villa. After getting out of the car, Gilbert thanked him and went into his house through the backdoor, disappearing from Alec’s sight.

Alec didn’t dawdle. He left quickly.

He did not return to Jenny’s villa. Like before, he returned to his other house and called her once he got there. He told her about Gilbert’s engagement, how Marigold was sure to suffer if she found out about it, and how she had to prepare herself.

Jenny was surprised, too. She thought that Esther would be placated easily. She wasn’t expecting that Gilbert would have to be engaged. Who could accept that?

Because of this, Jenny was awake the entire night. She was worried about Gilbert and Marigold’s relationship.

The next day, Marigold was shocked when she saw Jenny. “What’s up? Didn’t you sleep?”

“No.” Jenny didn’t dare to look Marigold in the eye.

“What happened?” Marigold was bewildered. Logically speaking, Jenny should have slept soundly after she and Gilbert had cleared things up.

Gilbert obviously had his reasons for not telling Marigold about it. Jenny didn’t want to speak on his behalf. “It’s nothing. There’s a patient in critical condition over at the hospital, and I was thinking about how to cure him.”

“Isn’t this too much for you? You have to work and keep me and Caleb company.” Marigold was embarrassed. Jenny had been accompanying them ever since Marigold came to stay with her.

Jenny waved her hands. “It’s fine. I just wanted to rest. I didn’t have the chance to before.’

“Why don’t you just go to the hospital? I’ll take care of Caleb.” Then, Marigold added, “I won’t go outdoors. I won’t run into trouble.”

She knew that Jenny was staying there because she was worried about what the Bradshaws might do to her and her child
