Chapter 391
Chapter 391
“Before I met you, I never thought about marriage. I never imagined spending my life with a woman. But after meeting you, I wanted to marry you! When you gave me Alex to look after, watching him grow up every day, it was like he was my own child. I played the role of a father. But now you’re telling me it was all a dream, and you say it’s for my sake; should I feel happy or sad?” Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Clara opened her mouth, but she didn’t know what to say.
“In my heart, Alex is my son, and you’re my wife. I can overlook all the difficulties and setbacks. As long as you two can come back to me and as long as you’re willing to forget about Emmett Melendez.”
“I think you’ve lost it!” Clara stepped back, shaking her head, “Elio Milburn, you’ve lost your mind; you’re trapped in your own obsession!”
Elio closed his mouth. He wanted to say something more, but Clara cut him off. “Can you take me home? I need to take some time to figure out how to get my kids back. I don’t want to talk about anything else, and I don’t want you to either, otherwise, we can’t even be friends!”
When she finished, she turned and got in the car, not giving Elio a chance to argue.
Elio clenched his fist and slammed it into the wall. Blood flowed down his hand, staining his clothes.
Nestor beside him exclaimed, “Elio, what are you doing? Don’t do anything stupid! I’ll go beg Clara again. She’s kind. She should agree.”
“No need! You don’t have to go to her again. I shouldn’t have pushed her so hard. It’s my fault!”
Watching Elio’s retreating figure, all Nestor could do was shake his head and sigh.
Clara had made it clear, yet Elio was still in denial, unwilling to wake up from his dream.
Emmett didn’t sleep all night.
He was looking at files the whole time.
The next morning, Ricardo went to the office and saw that the lights were still on..

He gently pushed the door open to see Emmett asleep at his desk, a file and pen still in his hand.
Ricardo quickly went in, picking up a blanket from the side to cover him.
Before he could touch Emmett, he lifted his head to look at Ricardo, who jumped, “I came in and saw you asleep. I was worried you’d catch a cold.”
Emmett rubbed his temples and sat up, “I’m fine. You can leave now.”
Having said that, he picked up the file and started reading again.
Concerned, Ricardo stepped forward, risking being scolded, and took the file from him, “Mr. Melendez, you can’t keep doing this! You’re not eating or sleeping. Your health is important!”
Emmett’s brow furrowed, “Give me back the file.”
“Mr. Melendez, you should rest. I can handle these tasks. I did the file review before; you don’t need to do this.”
“I said, give me the file!” Emmett repeated, his tone becoming heavier.
Ricardo truly felt like he was facing the biggest decision of his life. He was thinking whether to give it back or not.
