Chapter 10
Adelie POV
The sound of my blaring alarm pulls me out of my deep slumber, and I toss on the bed tiredly before forcing my eyes open. I intend to move my body, but I feel something heavy on me, so I tilt my head to see Asher laying on the bed next to me, while having his hand hugging me tightly to himself, and his leg pinning me down to the bed. I have forgotten that he slept in my room yesterday night.
Taking a deep breath, I carefully remove my body from his trying not to wake him up. It's not that I care so much about him that I don't want him to wake up, I just want to get away from him.
I finally manage to get off the bed, and I drag myself into the bathroom tiredly. I crash against the wall and run my fingers through my hair as soon as I get into the bathroom, releasing a deep sigh. What the hell should I do? I can't possibly run away from home, right?
'Raymond' his name resounds in my head, and I close my eyes tightly. Will this relationship work? Will Asher not try to spoil things for me later like he usually does?
I have a quick bath and wear my robe. Well, I always wear my towel whenever I have my bath, but you aren't expecting me to wear it today having Asher in my room, right?
Taking a deep breath, I reach for the doorknob and twist it before I open the door slightly. I sigh in relief when I peep out of the bathroom and he's not in my room. I finally step into my room and advance toward the door to shut the door tightly so he won't come in anytime he wants.
My phone suddenly starts ringing as I walk over to the closet to get my clothes, and I stop to answer the call after I pick up my phone from the bed. It's Raymond.NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
"Good morning, angel," His sweet voice sounds through the phone as soon as I answer the call, and I feel my heart misses a beat. Fuck! Why am I having this feeling?
"Good morning," I reply to him nervously, not after checking to see if the door is tightly locked. I don't want Asher to barge in on me.
"Did you sleep well?" He asks with concern in his voice, and I nod my head as I take a seat on the bed, smiling sheepishly like someone talking to her crush. What the hell am I even saying? He's my boyfriend now, so it's only right that I feel this way when I'm talking to him since I'm in love with him.
"Yes, what about you?" I reply to him.
"Yes, I did. See you at work later. I'm already getting ready for work. I just wanted to hear from you," He says, and I nod my head. It has been a while since someone calls me on the phone first thing in the morning to check up on me, except my annoying brother that comes here every morning to bother me. How can I still call him my brother even after all he has been doing to me? If mom didn't tell me that she carried him in his womb for nine months, I would've concluded that he must be an adopted child or a bastard. Don't blame me for that.
"Hmm. See you later," I reply to him before I drop the call, and release the deep breath I've been holding unknowingly.
It takes me another thirty minutes to get ready for work, and I finally stride out of my room.
Descending down the staircase minutes later, the aroma coming from the kitchen welcomes me, and my mouth salivates as well as my stomach grumbles in craving for the food. I know that is the handwork of Asher. Not that he can do anything else apart from cooking, anyway.
"Just stop, Adelie. He can do many things right, don't deny it," My subconscious mind reminds me, and I roll my eyes. As much as I want to have a taste of that delicious food, I can't risk being in the same dining room with Asher. He may do something stupid with me, and nobody will save me, since we're alone in the house. If mom and dad know what their so-called son has been doing to me, I'm sure they won't leave the two of us alone in the same place for a second, but they are clueless.
"Where are you going, Adelie?" He asks as he comes out of the kitchen and finds me walking toward the exit door.
I halt and turn to look at him with a questioning look, "Where does it look like I'm going? I've dressed for work already," I shrug, and he scoffs.

"Are you not going to have breakfast?" He asks me as he crosses his arms on his chest, but I shake my head.
"No, I'm not hungry. I'll eat when I get to work," I reply to him.
"Get back here, Adelie," The smile on his face moments ago has dissipated into a deep and scary frown, his domineering voice sounds so scary too that for some seconds, my heart stops moving in my chest, and my body shivers fearfully. "Don't make me repeat myself, Adelie," His voice sounds calm this time, and without waiting for me to make my decision whether to follow him or continue to leave the house, he turns and walks over to the dining where he already arranged the food he make. Why should he even care to know my decision, when he knows that I wouldn't dare step my feet out of this house as he commanded?
As much as I want to disobey him and leave the house, my body wouldn't move as I stand still in the place. How can my brother be so scary and monstrous? Is he the one that was adopted, or was I the one that got adopted? Does he never like my presence in the house? Those are the questions that run through my mind as I stare into space.
Gulping down the sudden lump that forms in my throat, I find myself moving my legs toward the dining where he is now sitting and drinking nothing, but red wine. Wait a minute? Who drinks wine early in the morning? Now that I think of it, I think my brother is weird. He has never eaten anything for so long that I have known him. Although I don't know if he eats behind my back, but he has never eaten any food except red wine for so long that I have come to know him. "Seriously? Is this really the time to think of that now?"Y subconscious mind screams at me, and I gulp down nothing nervously.
"Sit!" He commands me once I'm standing close to the table, and I quickly pull out a chair and sit on it.
"Eat!" He commands for the second time, and without waiting for another second, I grab the fork and start eating as fast as I can, trying not to also annoy him with the fast eating habit that I suddenly developed out of nervousness.

"Look at me, Adelie," His voice sounds so soft that I slowly find myself raising my gaze to meet his hazel eyes staring at me with affection in them. Those are the eyes that looked so scary just now. How the hell did he switch his mood so perfectly and flawlessly?
"Look at you... You look so scared. Did you see a ghost? Come on, don't be like that. You're making me feel bad," He chuckles softly as he reaches for my hair and ruffles it slowly while having a smile dancing on his lips. "Hmm," I nod my head as I force a smile at him.
Silence assumes the air as I manage to eat my food, and after what seems like forever, I finally round up.
"Can I go now?" I ask him once I'm done eating.
"Sure," He smiles at me, and that is all I need to jerk up from the chair, grab my bag from the table, and start scurrying to the exit door like I'm being chased by a ghost. Forgive me, but Asher is scarier than a ghost to me. Almost at the door, his voice suddenly brings me to an abrupt halt.
"Don't do something stupid at the office, Adelie... My eyes are on you," I can never mistake that voice to just being a threat, I know he means what he just said, even though I don't know how he's watching me.
Slowly, I tilt my head to see him leaning over the rail of the staircase as he stares at me with a smirk dancing at the corner of his lips. I know that smirk, it's scary and dangerous, and I shouldn't mess with him. Not when he has that smirk on. "Hmm," I nod my head before I pull the door open and storm out of the house...
