Chapter 108 Who Is She to You?

Lewis opened the box, revealing the exquisite diamond bracelet nestled inside.

Josephine frowned. She didn’t know if she should be disappointed or relieved.

He took out the bracelet and put it on her wrist. “I forgot to get you a birthday present, so I’m making up for it with this.”

He buckled the bracelet as he finished speaking, and it seemed too large for her. He had definitely had it made according to her wrist measurement, but it was still too large and slipped down to her palm when she lowered her arm. He frowned.

She stared at the bracelet, which looked very familiar to her. It suddenly occurred to her that it was the one Sierra had shared in their group chat. No wonder it was too big for her. It was someone’s unwanted trash. She wanted to retract her hand, but he held onto her wrist and took the bracelet off.

“It’s too big. I’ll send it back and have it adjusted.”

She pursed her lips and didn’t react.

As though sensing something amiss, Lewis glanced at her and said, “I can get something different if you don’t like it.”

Josephine nodded.

“What else do you like?” he asked.

She shook her head.

He noticed Josephine didn’t try to converse with him and merely nodded or shook her head. She couldn’t speak, and now it seemed she didn’t want to use sign language either. He placed. the bracelet back in his pocket. He had a habit of tugging on his tie when frustrated, but he wasn’t wearing one right now. Thus, he could only tug on the collar of his turtleneck and sigh.

When the food arrived, she buried her head in it, devouring each bite without regard for the taste. Though she appeared to be enjoying the meal, her vacant expression gave away her absent- mindedness. He leaned back in his seat, silently observing her as she ate. She didn’t make eye contact with him, and there was no indication that she intended to stop anytime. soon. She simply continued to eat.

She cleared off one plate after another until the only food left were the ones in front of him, which were out of her reach. Setting down her utensils, she raised her gaze and met his gaze, and detected a chill in his eyes. She pursed her lips and averted her gaze to the now empty plates before her, wondering if his anger stemmed from her consuming everything without leaving him any.

Lewis looked away and raised a hand to massage his temples. He turned his head and stared at

the heavy traffic outside. Josephine silently watched him as she waited for his next instruction. It was at this moment that a familiar voice sounded from behind her.

“Aren’t you…

Startled, Josephine turned around, and her expression immediately changed when she saw who it was. Standing behind her were Quintin, Jack, and an unfamiliar woman. The woman’s expression changed when she saw Quintin greeting Josephine.

Quintin left the other two and briskly walked up to Josephine. “We meet again,” he said with a smile. “You left so abruptly last time. I don’t even know your name.”

Josephine looked nervously at Lewis when Quintin finished speaking.

Quintin, who only noticed Lewis was beside her when he followed her gaze, turned and greeted him. “You’re here as well, President Alvarez. I still haven’t explained myself for last night’s incident. I saved her that night. You can ask her yourself. Can you please help me explain things to my dad as well?” He then looked expectantly at Lewis after blabbering so

much.

Lewis raised a brow and looked indifferently at Quintin. He didn’t appear to have any intention to respond. The two stared at each other before Quintin called out Lewis’ name again a few moments later when he couldn’t hold his smile any longer. “President Alvarez?”

Lewis looked at him for a moment more before asking, “Are you Quintin Fowler?”

“Yes, I’m Quintin Fowler, but President Alvarez…”

Quintin glanced briefly at Josephine before turning back to look at Lewis again. The more he looked at it, the more he suspected they were in a relationship. Yesterday he thought she was a nanny, but they were having a meal together today. What boss would bring their nanny out to dine in such a place? If she wasn’t a nanny, then what was the deal with Lewis and this woman. last night?

Quintin’s mind was reeling, so he asked, “Who is she to you, President Alvarez?” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Lewis smiled, but it was barely perceptible, and it seemed as though it was filled with derision. “Why is it any of your business who she is to me?”

Quintin wasn’t expecting such a retort from Lewis, so he was stunned for a while before turning sullen. “I’m just asking. You locked her in your car. You-

He felt someone tugging on his sleeve before he could finish speaking and saw that it was Josephine when he looked down. She was looking at him with pleading eyes and even shaking her head slightly to signal him to stop talking.

His mouth hung open, and he sighed. “Alright, I won’t ask further. Enjoy your meal.” He then turned to Josephine and said with a smile, “We’ll talk next time.”

She stared after Quintin as he left and was once again feeling on edge. Carefully sneaking a

peek at Lewis, she saw that he was expressionless, but she couldn’t shake the unsettled feeling in her heart. Lewis stood up just as she wanted to explain things, so she hurriedly followed him. He walked rapidly. Unable to keep up, she broke into a jog to chase after him.

When they reached the parking lot, she quickly got in the car and faced him to study his reaction. He was leaning against the car door, lighting a cigarette. The car was quiet. He didn’t. say a word and was silently smoking. Only after he had finished his cigarette did he turn on the engine and drive off.

Quintin and his companions were currently in a private room. He looked absent-minded as his. head was full of questions.

Jack scratched his head and confusedly asked, “Why do you look so unhappy, Quintin?”

Quintin placed a finger on his chin and fiddled with a spoon with his other hand. “What do you guys think their relationship is?” he absent-mindedly asked.

“Why do you care what their relationship is? What does it have to do with you? Why do you care so much about other people’s business?” the woman responded flippantly.

“What’s gotten into you? Why are you so upset when I didn’t even provoke you?” Quintin looked at the woman with displeasure when he heard her words.

The woman scoffed coldly, turned away, and ignored him.

Quintin frowned, feeling as though she was behaving out of character. Did she get possessed by a vengeful spirit?

“Sasha is jealous, Quintin,” Jack said with an amused smile.

The woman named Sasha glared at him when he finished speaking. “Are you crazy? You’re the one who’s jealous.”

Jack lowered his head and didn’t dare say anything again.

Quintin eyed Sasha suspiciously but didn’t say anything too.

Meanwhile, Lewis and Josephine had returned to the villa. He had remained silent the entire journey back. She could only quietly follow behind him. He headed straight to his study and still didn’t say anything to her. Josephine stayed downstairs and watched as he disappeared with her lips pursed. She couldn’t determine if he was angry again as he wasn’t lashing out like usual. On the contrary, his silence merely made her even more fearful.

Lewis received a call when he was upstairs-Mary Jinkins was fading.
