Chapter 384

Chapter 384 Leo Falls Ill

"You haven't done anything bad, have you?" Melissa still knew him somewhat despite his cold demeanor, and he wouldn't just attack someone for no reason.

"I didn't do anything bad." Chandler hastily shook his head as if he had been caught doing something wrong. "But Leo thinks I did."

"What do you mean by that?" Her patience was wearing thin, and she was getting annoyed.

"Please stop asking me, Mrs. Alston." Chandler looked like he couldn't say anything. "I-I'm in pain. I need to rest!"

With that, he hurriedly ran upstairs.

Chandler's reluctance to speak was like a hook in Melissa's heart, making her uneasy.

However, she always had a sense of superiority and cared about her reputation, so she would not lower herself to ask more questions.

To Melissa, that was a very embarrassing thing to do. As these conflicting thoughts collided within her, she couldn't help pacing back and forth in the room.

Just as she was walking, she suddenly bumped into someone.

"Ouch!"

The person whom she collided with was Jodie.

Jodie was pushed back several steps, and her foot was twisted painfully.

"Mom, what are you doing?!" Jodie glared. Initially, she wanted to hit the person but quickly retracted her hand upon seeing it was Melissa. She rubbed her sore ankle and complained, "Can't you see me? Why did you bump into me like that?"

Melissa slowly regained her senses and saw that it was her daughter. She asked, "Are you okay?"

"How can I be okay? I was almost knocked over." Jodie rubbed her ankle, then her shoulder where she was hit. "Mom, are you dating someone? You seem absent-minded."

"What are you talking about?!" A hint of awkwardness appeared on Melissa's face. "I'm just worried about your brother!"

"What's wrong with Leo?" Jodie asked.

Melissa recounted the incident where Leo suddenly hit Chandler and how he hesitated to speak thereafter.

"I can tell that Chandler is hiding something, and it's related to Leo."

"It can't be that Leo has a terminal illness, can it?" Jodie cried out in concern. If Leo does have a terminal illness, what will happen to the company in the future? I am not ready to take over the company yet.

She just wanted to play all day and being in charge of the company was like a bolt from the blue.

Melissa became even more worried when she heard Jodie's words. If Leo dies ahead of me, what will I do with the rest of my life?

She had briefly taken over the company in her youth, but her abilities were limited. Fortunately, Warren was still alive at the time and helped support her.

However, he had passed away many years ago, so she had no one to rely on.

If Leo died, many people would try to take over the company.

When Melissa was younger, she was ambitious and wanted to fight for everything, but after years of living a comfortable life, her ambition had long been gone. Thinking about these things now just gave her a headache.

"Jojo, look for Chandler now and find out what's happening!"

Jodie didn't dare to delay any further and forgot about the pain in her foot as she ran upstairs.

At Chandler's door, she knocked incessantly and called out, "Chandler, come out!"

After a moment, Chandler opened the door. "Jojo, what do you want this late?"

She quickly entered his room and closed the door, asking earnestly, "Tell me the truth, is Leo sick?"

Chandler was surprised by her question.

Seeing his reaction, Jodie was shocked. Her legs went weak, and she almost fell to the ground.

Fortunately, there was a wall behind her to support her. Even so, she couldn't hold on to it and kept sinking to the ground.

Chandler looked at her lack of resilience and coldly sneered in his heart. However, he showed great concern on the surface. "Jojo, what's wrong? Why are you so scared?"

He reached to help her up but looked hesitant.

"Leo is indeed sick, but it's just a mental illness. It's nothing serious."

Hearing it was only a mental illness, Jodie relaxed slightly, and her body didn't slip further down. She couldn't help but ask, "What illness does he have? Is it depression? Does he have suicidal tendencies?"

"Don't worry. It's not depression." Chandler smiled and shook his head. "Actually, his illness only happens when he sees Amelie."

"What do you mean?"

Chandler briefly mentioned that Leo would constantly wash his hands after coming into contact with Amelie.

He added, "Since Amelie is often overseas, there is hardly any chance for them to interact. So, Leo is fine most of the time."

"No interaction? What about the past few days?!" He spoke lightly, but Jodie fumed with rage.

"Amelie has been pestering Leo, making him look like a monster with a long face all day. It has affected the atmosphere in our home. After finally sending her away, she still causes trouble abroad. What a jerk!"

Jodie didn't have much sense, and her temper was easily provoked. Just mentioning Leo and Amelie's meeting overseas was enough to make her furious. "This woman deserves a lesson. She'll take advantage of us if we don't teach her that!"

After speaking, she angrily grabbed her bag and stormed out of Chandler's room.

"Good morning, Amelie."

In the morning, Amelie walked toward her office while receiving greetings from her subordinates.

After arriving in Lumaria, she had explicitly bought a three-story building for her office space and hired nearly a hundred employees.

She implemented a flexible company system with no strict demands on her employees and preferred to be addressed in a friendly manner.

So, regardless of age, everyone called her first name.

As she passed by, she left behind a light fragrance, and the low-level employees carrying documents couldn't help but cast a worshipful gaze at her back.

It was inevitable that they worshiped her.

Even men could not single-handedly establish such an influential knowledge platform in less than three years.

"Amelie." When Amelie arrived at the office door, her assistant greeted her, looking very unhappy.

Gladys didn't hide her mood well.

"What's up?" Amelie took off the strap from her shoulder and casually asked while holding the bag.

Gladys grunted. "Didn't we have the qualification exam yesterday? Two of the participants didn't pass, and the staff notified them. They came to beg for passing grades. I refused, but they came back this morning."

The qualification exam for the Knowlit training camp was not just a formality but rather a carefully organized question bank by experts. Anyone who failed would not be accepted.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

"I've said everything that needs to be said, but they just won't leave and insist on seeing you." Gladys had been harassed by the two for a long time and was rubbing her temples non-stop.

Just then, a man and a woman walked out of the reception room.
