Chapter 47 A Flutter
Elijah knew that her skin was fair, but it wasn’t until he touched it that he realized how delicate and smooth it was. His heart felt as if it had been brushed by feathers, savoring the enchanting sensation. He coveted this feeling that fascinated him.
Freya’s eyes widened in astonishment, her pupils trembling.
What was he doing?
No.
She got to stop him. Given her current physical condition, she absolutely cannot engage in such activities with a man.
However, Elijah’s actions today became even more unrestrained! She couldn’t free herself from his grip. Determined, she bit his lips that were causing chaos.
Elijah winced in pain, loosening his hold a bit. Taking advantage of this, Freya pushed him away. She glared at him, demanding, “Elijah, what do you mean? What do you take me for? Do you think I’m a woman who sleeps around with any man?”
Elijah looked at her with a slightly dazed expression, “Isn’t that so?”
Freya almost raised her hand to slap him but held back. She couldn’t and dared not.
“I’m not. I’ve had a man before, but only one. I’m not a woman who sleeps around with just anyone.” She was calm now. Her tone was very steady. If she got angry, had a big argument, Elijah might say, ‘You are my wife, and there’s nothing wrong with anything I do to you.’
But being calm and composed like this, he could only watch quietly.
“Leave that man.”
This time Elijah was also calm. He just wanted her to be an obedient wife to him. He wouldn’t allow her to have any relationship with any man, whether it was one or several. She could only belong to him!
Freya didn’t even know what that man looked like, what kind of person he was, except for that one night. She answered with relief, “Okay.”
The marks left by that man on her body were probably this child.
Elijah’s expression relaxed, seemingly satisfied with her answer. A rare moment of harmony between them.
“Let’s go home.” Elijah opened the car door.
Freya Stone, however, was slightly stunned by his words. She sensed Elijah’s change.
Soon, she blinked.
She and Elijah were people from two different worlds. She dared not have any thoughts. Freya pretended to be indifferent on the surface, following him out of the car.
Linda was just about to take out the trash and saw the two coming back together. She immediately smiled and said, “Sir, Madam, you came back together?”
Freya smiled and replied, “It just happened.”
Linda nodded and tactfully walked away, giving them space. It was rare for them to be so calm and peaceful together.
Freya didn’t want to be alone with Elijah, especially when she noticed the change in him. She made an excuse, “I’m tired, I’ll go upstairs first.”
Elijah knew she was avoiding him, deliberately saying, “I’m hungry, make me something to eat.”
Freya was speechless.
Could she say no?
“What do you want to eat?” She smiled, adopting a low posture.
“Anything.” Replied Elijah.
Freya glanced at him, went to the kitchen to wash her hands, and opened the refrigerator. The fridge at home was well-stocked with all kinds of ingredients. She chose to make something simple and a dish she was good at.
Elijah stood in the living room, unbuttoning his suit with one hand, but his eyes were fixed on the busy woman in the kitchen. His parents passed away early, and he had forgotten the taste of home. Before Freya moved in, only Linda took care of the villa. In most situations, it was usually chilly. Right now, however, he felt a sense of home.
He took off his coat, casually tossing it on the sofa, and walked towards the kitchen.
“Freya Stone.”
Freya was chopping vegetables. She turned around, saw the man standing at the door, and said, “Wait a moment.”
Elijah certainly knew that the meal wasn’t ready yet. He came to tell her that they could continue like this. But he couldn’t say it out loud. In the end, it was his pride at play. He silently turned away.
Freya withdrew her gaze, lowered her head, emotions flickering in her eyes for a moment, then quickly disappearing.
Half an hour later, she finished cooking. She made some simple home-cooked dishes, nothing fancy. Elijah sat down at the dining table and noticed there was only one serving.
“Aren’t you eating?” asked he.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“I’m not hungry.” Freya said and also sat down, not going upstairs, even though she wasn’t eating, she kept him company.
After all, they were considered a married couple, right? Even though they only had a marriage certificate, nothing else resembled a married couple. She considered this their last dinner.
…
The next day, they had breakfast together.
“I’m going to the office and will drop you off at the hospital.” Said Elijah.
Freya didn’t tell him that she no longer worked at the hospital. She ate with her head down, answering, “I’m not going to the hospital today.”
Elijah thought her body hadn’t recovered, so he didn’t say much.
“I can make you an official doctor at the general hospital…”
“No need.” She said, smiling.
Elijah was too good now, and she wasn’t used to it. If this had happened earlier, she would have been extremely grateful. But now, she didn’t need this job for the time being.
Elijah frowned slightly, sensing something unusual about her. If she had argued with him a bit, he would have thought it was normal. He squinted at her for a few seconds, as if he had sensed something, but he didn’t show any emotion on his face. He calmly got up and left the dining table.
Freya continued to eat slowly. Hearing the sound of the door closing, she raised her head. After the meal, she said to Linda, “I’ll go get the clothes later.”
“Okay,” Linda replied without turning her head, busy cleaning the furniture.
Freya got rid of unwanted things, then went out, and the driver took her to the dry cleaner’s. She had the dry cleaner pack the clothes, put them in the car, and told the driver, “I need to make a trip to the mall.”
The driver took her there.
Holding the clothes, she got into the car, lying to the driver, “I need to change clothes at the mall. Just wait for me in the parking lot.”
The driver agreed and she went into the mall with the clothes. Unbeknownst to her, the driver behind her had already dialed Elijah’s number.
Elijah specifically instructed the driver to keep an eye on Freya because she was acting unusually today. Elijah keenly sensed that something was wrong with her and was already on guard!
After making sure the driver hadn’t followed her, Freya Stone, carrying a bag of clothes, took the elevator to the underground parking lot, confidently thinking that she could finally escape. She joyfully put her things in a prepared car. She had bought this used car earlier and left it here in advance, just for this moment of escape.
Freya had her mother leave without a trace, and she wouldn’t use any transportation that required identification or left a record. She had planned the route early on, avoiding all cameras, and quietly slipped away. Everything went smoothly.
On the highway, she felt relieved, even humming a song excitedly. The car was small and a bit shabby, but it didn’t affect her smooth driving.
Encountering a toll booth, there was a slight congestion. Freya rolled down the window, letting the wind blow, her car moving forward slowly.
Suddenly, she noticed something was wrong. Why were there so many cars blocking the road in front of the toll booth?
They didn’t look like law enforcement.
At this moment, a man walked towards her.
Her pupils gradually dilated!
