Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl

Chapter 1303

Chapter 1303

"Give it up. It's impossible."

Chester thought he could talk it out, but Richard's angry refusal and his harsh tone almost made Chester cry." Miss Pearl, look at him. I just made a suggestion, nothing else. How can he say that about me?"

Pearl was stuck in a tough spot. "Don't feel bad, Chet. He's just got a bad temper," she tried to comfort him. Hearing this, Richard turned and glared at Pearl.

"I know. I'm not going to argue with him." Chester huffed and rushed to hug Pearl. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

Pearl couldn't help but find their grumpiness a bit funny. They were clearly father and son; they even lost their tempers in the same way.

Yet, Chester would be in for a surprise if he ever found out he was Richard's son and had inadvertently helped someone else win over his dad's wife. Just the thought of that mix-up made her chuckle.

But for now, Chester clearly didn't like Richard.

"You naughty kid! Say that again, and I'll have your dad kick you out," Richard threatened, as Chester hadn't yet learned his lesson. Instead, he just cuddled closer to Pearl and acted up.

Chester was too young and sensitive to be joked with like that. Richard's threats really upset him, and he started to cry. "You're mean. I don't like you!"

Pearl saw how upset Chester was and quickly tried to calm him down. "Don't cry, Chet. He's not going to kick you out."

Chester cried harder and buried his face in Pearl's embrace. He thought she smelled really nice.

Richard felt uneasy, thinking Chester was getting too close to Pearl. But Chester was just a boy; he wouldn't really think like that. Yet, Richard couldn't help but want to pull Chester away from her.

These thoughts crossed his mind as Chester finally stopped crying and even managed to smile. Holding Pearl's hand, he suggested, "Miss Pearl, let's go upstairs. There's a fun place I want to show you."

Pearl followed, not wanting him to get upset again. "Where are you taking me?"

Chester giggled and whispered, "To Dad's study."

Sean's study?

Pearl hesitated at the door. "I don't know, Chester. It's your dad's study, and we really shouldn't just walk into other people's rooms."

Chester looked disappointed. "It's okay. Dad always lets me in his room."

"But that's because you're his son. I'm different," Pearl replied.

Chester insisted, "No! You're important to my dad too."

Pearl felt puzzled. "Did your dad tell you that?"

She wondered what Sean was thinking.
