Chapter 1226
Meanwhile, Theodore testified as Aurora's alibi and bailed her out. By the time they left the police station, the sky had turned dark.
The night air felt chilly, and Aurora shivered in the cold. Theodore took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders.
"The police said that he died two weeks ago," Theodore said. "You were the last person he saw before he died."
Aurora's eyes were still red, her face etched with fatigue.
"I have no idea. He did look for me then, and even beat me up. You know that, too. He offended way too many people, and all of them want him dead. He asked me for money the day he looked for me because he truly was at his wits' end."
Theodore was silent. Seeing that, Aurora exclaimed in shock, "Theo, do you really think I killed him? I did not! How could I possibly do it? I..."
"There's no need to explain," Theodore said, cutting her off. "I didn't say that you killed him, or I wouldn't have testified for you."
"Theo, I have no idea how or why he died. No wonder you couldn't find him no matter how hard you tried. As it turns out, he's dead. Someone threw his corpse into the river."
"I'll have someone send you back home. Get some rest," Theodore said before turning to leave.
"Theo, wait!"
Theodore stopped in his tracks. "Is there anything else?"
"Theo, I have something to tell you."
"What is it?"
Aurora gripped the hem of her shirt, looking nervous. "After that thing happened two weeks ago, I haven't had my period. It's been late for over ten days."
Theodore's heart started racing. "What did you say?"
"My period should have come ten days ago, but it hasn't. I was very scared, so took a pregnancy

Theodore's face stiffened, his brows tightly knitted. He grunted darkly, "What did you say?"
Aurora hurriedly explained, "I used an off-the-shelf pregnancy test kit. Perhaps...perhaps it's not accurate I'll go to the hospital for a thorough check If I really am pregnant, don't worry: I won't ask you to take responsibility. I'II..."
"Shut up!" Theodore said, cutting her off. "You didn't take the morning-after pill?"
Aurora was so frightened, she opened her mouth but couldn't speak. After a long time, she finally found the courage to answer him.novelbin
"I was so sad at that time, I didn't think about that..."
"You didn't think about that?" Theodore scoffed. "That's general knowledge. Do you need to be taught that? Did you do it on purpose?"
Facing Theodore's questions, Tears fell down Aurora's cheeks.
"So that's the kind of person you think I am? Do you think I left it out on purpose so I can tie you down with a baby? I didn't force you to touch me that night. You were the

who pushed me onto the bed!
The way you're behaving now makes me... makes me look cheap! How could you say that?"
Aurora tore off Theodore's jacket and stuffed it in his arms before running away.
Theodore shut his eyes, took a deep breath, and ran after her. He grabbed her arm and said, "Stop."
"I'll take you to the hospital to confirm the pregnancy," he said coldly.
"What if I really am pregnant?" Aurora asked. "Will you make me abort the baby?"
"We'll see after we confirm it," Theodore said as he pulled her toward the car.
Theodore brought Aurora to a hospital he had a share in. The doctor had knocked off, but upon receiving Theodore's call, he hurried back to the hospital to do a check-up on Aurora.
The results showed that Aurora was indeed pregnant.
