You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 71

Freya tilted her head, shooting him a frigid look. “Let go of me!”Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

But Elijah didn’t yield; his grip tightened. Freya struggled, her breath catching in the vice of his hold. Elijah’s expression turned grave. “The moment you rushed into my arms willingly, I knew I couldn’t let you go.”

Her heart skipped a beat. So, that explained his delayed call. She gave up the struggle, her face pressed against his chest, feeling his steady breath.

“Can you tell me where you went on our wedding night?” she finally inquired, seeking confirmation.

Elijah’s expression grew awkward. That night, complications arose; he met Liora Valentine, and things took an unexpected turn.

“Why do you ask?” he replied in a low voice, avoiding any mention of Liora Valentine.

“I want to know. Can’t you tell me?” She looked up at him.

“I was overseas, handling company matters.” He replied, avoiding the real story. He couldn’t admit the loss of control with Liora Valentine that night.

Disappointed, Freya looked down. “So, that’s how it is.”

She had thought that it could be him that night.

Footsteps echoed from the entrance, signaling someone’s arrival. The secretary and others rushed in, accompanied by Jasper Green and his daughter. Seeing Freya in disarray, Elijah’s voice turned cold. “Turn off the lights!”

Darkness enveloped them swiftly. He draped his suit jacket over Freya, buttoning it up. They descended the ladder, with Elijah lifting Freya, letting her climb up first.

As they surfaced, Jasper Green hastily explained, “This is all my daughter’s fault. She wanted to be friends with Miss Stone, so she brought her to the rose garden. Who knew she fell into a hole? You found her first.”

Jasper Green was sly. Realizing his daughter’s mistake, he swiftly concocted a story to deflect blame.

“Are you okay?” Izzy Green apologized under her father’s demand. “It’s my fault. I caused trouble for you. Please don’t be mad.”

Freya frowned; this apology differed from Izzy’s earlier actions. Smiling, she said, “It’s strange. I came to see the roses with you. We were alone. I don’t know how someone could push me.”

Izzy couldn’t resist, “Are you suggesting I pushed you?”

“Oh, darling, Miss Stone didn’t mean that. Maybe she slipped, had a hallucination. She didn’t blame you. You went back to get me to rescue her; I can testify to your innocence.”

Jasper Green twisted Freya’s push into a slip and hallucination.

“It’s dark, accidents happen. Fortunately, everyone is okay. As the host, I have some responsibility. How about this? Tomorrow, I’ll host a dinner and apologize?”

Jasper Green, a business figure, could easily handle such matters. Elijah wasn’t someone to trifle with.

“No need for dinner. The roads in your house are slippery, I’m afraid I would fall into some pit next time.” Elijah said coldly, eyeing Izzy Green. “Your daughter has a unique way of making friends. I’ll remember that.”

With that, he put his arm around Freya’s shoulder, saying, “Let’s go.”

Elijah’s displeasure echoed in his words.

Jasper Green wanted to say more but was silenced by his daughter, who whispered, “Is he being sarcastic about us?”

Jasper Green glared at his daughter and whispered back, “Isn’t it because you didn’t listen? Why can’t you control yourself a bit?”

Izzy Green pointed at Elijah and Freya who were leaving and said, “Dad, they’re close.”

“So give up.”

“No.”

“You…”

In the car, Freya instructed, “Go to the hospital.”

Looking at Elijah, she added, “You should get checked.”

“Mr Silverton, are you injured?” the secretary in the front seat asked and met Freya’s eyes.

“Miss Stone, are you injured?”

Freya shook her head.

At the hospital, Elijah was checked; no poison, the snake was non-venomous.

On the way back, Freya leaned on Elijah’s shoulder and fell asleep.

As they arrived at the house, the secretary wanted to waked Freya up but was stopped by Elijah.

“You may go back.” Said Elijah.

He then lifted Freya up and got off the car.

In the villa, Linda noticed Freya’s disheveled appearance. “Sir, you two…”

“We’re fine,” Elijah reassured.

Linda left, tactful and understanding.

Elijah took Freya upstairs and placed her on the bed. She must have been exhausted. She shifted a bit but continued sleeping. Elijah took a shower and returned to find her seemingly unchanged from the night before.

Approaching her, he noticed small scratches on her arms–some red, some bleeding. Undressing her, he fetched warm water and carefully cleaned her wounds. Freya shifted slightly, feeling the sting. He cleaned her more gently, arranging everything before holding her and going to sleep.

Freya, deeply asleep, was unaware she lay naked in his arms. Truly exhausted, she slept soundly through the night. When she woke up, the sun was high, a ray of light slipping through the curtains.

Squinting, she mumbled, “Hmm…”

Wanting to stretch, she was surprised to find Elijah right in front of her. She pulled the covers, attempting to get up, only to discover she wore only panties. Her gown from last night couldn’t accommodate undergarments.

Did Elijah undress her?

“Morning.” Elijah supported his cheek with one hand, lazily saying.

Freya, still under the covers, showed only her eyes staring at him.

“How… how did you get into my room?”
