You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 72

Observing Freya Stone’s alert and shocked expression, Elijah playfully teased, “Don’t you remember anything from last night?”

He drawled out the words “last night,” adding a hint of mystery.

“Last night?” She vaguely recalled accompanying Elijah to the hospital, falling asleep on the way back, and then a blank.

How she ended up in the room, her clothes removed–no memory.

After a moment’s consideration, she realized there was no discomfort on her body. Having experienced such situations before, she knew there would be physical signs if something intimate had occurred.

Elijah seemed to sense her thoughts and flicked her nose with his finger. “I wouldn’t do anything without your consent.”

Freya Stone inexplicably sighed in relief.

“It’s not early, get up!”

Elijah, aware of her potential embarrassment, got out of bed first, giving her space.

In truth, he seemed not to have done much, but for some reason, Freya felt a warmth in her heart. It was his consideration for her. Suddenly, she remembered her dance class. Checking the time, it was close to nine.

Ignoring her lack of clothing, she hurriedly got out of bed. In the bathroom, she didn’t pay much attention to the scratches on her arms-minor injuries that would heal in a few days. After a quick shower, she dressed and went downstairs.

Elijah was already there.

“Come, have breakfast.”

“I’m running late for work.”

“You’re already late. Take the day off.” Elijah suggested, gesturing for her to join him.

Hesitating for a moment, she walked over and sat down.

Elijah handed her a cup of hot milk. “Rest at home today.”

Freya accepted the milk with a faint acknowledgment. It wasn’t because she was listening to Elijah; she was already late and had to take the day off.

“I have some things to attend to today, but I’ll be back earlier in the evening,” Elijah informed her.

It sounded like he was reporting his schedule, or perhaps it was a husband updating his wife on his daily affairs.

Freya tightened her grip on the milk cup.

“Hmm,” she responded quietly, not entirely used to this harmonious atmosphere.

Elijah left for the company.

At the office, the secretary informed him, “Mr Green has been waiting since early morning, likely about yesterday’s matter.”

Elijah straightforwardly said, “I don’t want to see him.”

“Yes.”

The secretary went to the reception room to meet Jasper Green. “Mr Green, I’m sorry, but Mr Silverton already has a prior appointment today, confirmed last month and couldn’t be changed. How about you come back another time?”Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

“I just want to say a few words.”

Jasper Green didn’t want to quarrel with Elijah. He knew Elijah’s style and hoped he wouldn’t hold yesterday’s incident against him.

“Unfortunately, Mr Silverton has already gone to his appointment,” the secretary explained. “If you come next time and inform me in advance, I can arrange a suitable time for you. Mr Silverton is busy; you waited for nothing, and he won’t be available to meet you even if you waited for a long time.”

Jasper Green felt dissatisfied, venting his frustration on the secretary. “Elijah is busy, and you subordinates are eloquent.”

The secretary still smiled. “I’ll see you out.”

“Don’t bother, I know the way.” Said Jasper.

When he arrived, he seemed sincere, waiting patiently. However, the rejection happened swiftly, leaving him somewhat displeased. He figured it wasn’t a significant matter, especially since Freya Stone wasn’t harmed, and Elijah hadn’t publicly disclosed her identity. Perhaps Freya Stone was just a woman Elijah was temporarily interested in. After a while, when he grew tired of her, who would remember who she was? The incident would be forgotten.

Indeed, it wasn’t a major issue. Elijah was upset, but not to the extent of confronting Jasper Green over such a trivial matter.

The secretary reported, “The person has been sent away.”

Elijah gave a light acknowledgment.

“By the way, should we continue monitoring Miss Stone?” the secretary asked. Since Elijah had Freya accompany him to the banquet yesterday, he had temporarily halted the surveillance on her. The secretary didn’t want to take initiative without Elijah’s orders.

Elijah pondered for a moment. “Let them stop.”

He wasn’t sure why, but he didn’t want to keep her through such means. He hoped she would willingly stay by his side.

Jasper Green thought that with time, yesterday’s events would be forgotten. However, he was unaware that his daughter wasn’t planning to remain quiet.

Izzy Green found out that Freya was a dance studio teacher and went straight there.

Freya called Mrs Quinn, “I can’t come to the dance studio today. Can I take a day off?”

“Sure, but there’s a girl looking for you at the studio. She says she’s your friend.”

“What’s her name?”

“I don’t know, she only said she’s your friend.”

Freya couldn’t name a close friends here and her best friend Luna Ann was not here. So she wondered if that was the girl from last night.

“What’s her name?” she asked.

In the studio, Mrs Quinn asked Izzy, “What’s your name?”

Impatiently, Izzy Green replied, “I’m Izzy Green. Where is she?”

Hearing Izzy’s voice, Freya told Mrs Quinn, “Just tell her I’ve resigned.”

Mrs Quinn conveyed the message to Izzy. “She won’t be coming anymore. She said she’s resigning.”

“Why is she resigning?” Izzy Green inquired.

“It seems like she found another job,” Mrs Quinn provided a random reason.

Izzy Green snorted, thinking Freya Stone hadn’t found another job; she must be maintained by Elijah. Feeling angrier the more she thought about it, she left the dance studio in a huff.

Freya Stone, with the day off, decided to attend a public lecture at HY Research Center on cardiac research.

Just as she was about to leave, Linda stopped her. “Madam.”

Freya turned back.

“Are you going out?”

“Yes.”

“Wait a moment.” Linda fetched the first aid kit. “Come here.”

“Are you injured? Where are you hurt? Let me see…”

“I’m not injured. You are.” Before Mr Silverton left, he instructed me that you had some injuries, and he asked me to apply some ointment.”

Freya glanced at her arm and said, “These little scratches are nothing to worry about.”

“But, Mr Silverton seems concerned.” Linda said, looking at her.

Freya felt a bit embarrassed under Linda’s gaze and lowered her head slightly. She obediently applied the medicine as per Linda’s advice and then headed out. However, as soon as she stepped outside, she was blocked again.
